Dear E. Schuch,

The spelling of the name Schuch originate from Hungary. Szuch is a Polish made change of spelling out of Polish pronunciation reasons, for some of us - and far from all of the families. Looking for ansisters etc in former East Europe countries is a time consuming task, since all wars and the latest communist era. Archives have been burned, moved abroad (Germany and Russia), and destroyed on purpose by people gaining own benefits thereby (simply by tearing pages out of the registry book).

The Szuch Palace situated at Aleja Szuch:a Nr 6, is such exaple on how private real estate was lost within 5 minutes when soldiers of the Read Army together with the new regime in the country confiscated them in 1945, and how difficult it is to re-gain the same property today.

There are several million people in the world who share this name in one or another spelling form, and they are all far from related to each other. A severe difficult tracing process remains, consisting of often as above mentioned reasons, not to mention the language ones.

Kindly feel free to visit:

Kindly do not forget that these people from the communist times still exists in administration positions, and they are not always too keen to give a helping hand. No one who came by whatever for free, likes to separate from it, and specially if it represents some value. Present Polish government is not doing much to change all this, well aware of the tremendous costs involved.

Sincerely
Szuch
Baron
