Dear Pablo:
I wrote to you a couple of years ago and did get a brief response. I cannot recall why I didn't follow up. However, I just rediscovered our brief email exchange and wanted to continue. My Spanish is not as good as your English. However, if you prefer to communicate with me in Spanish I'll have my wife, Liliana Hermosilla Rosenthal, translate your response.
I would also prefer to communicate with you privately. My email address is
jhrosenthal@hotmail.comLiliana and I are finishing an introductory essay about her late Uncle Carlos Hermosilla Alvarez (Chile: 1905-1991). It includes information about Carlos as an Illustrator for some of Chile's most important writers of the twentieth century including your late father. In addition, it has a section which deals with the probably converso background of Carlos which is a topic of great interest to us and the subject of an entire field of study here in the United States.
We have several objectives for our manuscript which in addition to the introductory essay will include a wide selection of Carlos' prints and personal photographs from our Collection. We also want to introduce many of the major Chilean writers of the twentieth century, including your late father, to an English speaking audience.
Are you aware of any works in English which deal with your father's legacy? Are there any academics here in the United States who have a professional interest in his writings?
I'm looking forward to your response and ask again that you sent it to me at
jhrosenthal@hotmail.com.
Regards,
Joel
