Hello
My name is Sysyn Mykola. I am from Ukraine. I have accidentally found this site and decided to send the message.
The matter is that my grandfather Sysyn Fedir and his family lived in Mshanets, a small Ukrainian village in Lviv region near the Poland border, until World War II. Then they have gone to another village of the same region the village Turye.
My grandfather is still alive he is 78 years old. He remembers some surnames that I have seen in the site such as Wovkanych, Stetskovick (Steckovich), Kohut. His father was Sysyn Petro Andriyevych and was going to Canada to earn money before World War I.
The village old zambera mentioned in the letter of Jim Lecarre is probably town Stary Sambir (Stary means Old in transl.) that is in the same district to village Mshanets.
I am very interested to know more about our ancestors and the origin of the surname Sysyn. Please contact me if you receive this message at the e-mail
sysynmykola@mail.ru . I think that together we’ll be able to search more efficiently.
Best regards
Sysyn Mykola
