Thomas Syrett had a large family in Canada (which was made even larger by the fact that some of the children from his 2nd wife’s 1st marriage took on the Syrett name). I’ve identified 11 children (born to Thomas), Janet, John, Alice, Henry Albert, Melville (served in WWI), Ethel, Florence, Elizabeth, Emily, Frederick & Reginald. Elizabeth died as an infant & I’m not sure what happened to Alice or Henry Albert.
The 1841 census for Chiswick, England shows Thomas with his parents, John & Ann, & siblings Charles, Mary & Samuel. John & Ann were both widowed at the time of their marriage in 1833 & the census includes 2 children, John & William, from Ann’s 1st marriage to ? Harrington. The census mentions that they lived on Bond St. which they continued doing for a number of years & Bond St. exists today as a small laneway.
My wife is descendent from Thomas’ sister Mary. It is a funny coincidence that although born in England she ended up here in Canada living quite close to where Thomas & his family lived.
Cheers, John
