Hello, Donna,

If you happen to locate a George W. Syphax who lived in Freeport, Armstrong County, PA, I would appreciate receiving a message. I know little about him or his family, only a very little more than what I can find in the censuses. He married Anna Swank (b. 1815), a sister of my second great grandfather, probably in the early 1830's. They had several children, but it looks like many of them died in early childhood. There is one daughter I can trace for a while, but she did not marry. George and Anna's son, Henry, fought in the Civil War, was married to Sarah Elizabeth Painter and had several children, some of whom also died young, all of whom I lose after the 1910 census. I have seen that Henry is buried in Freeport Cemetery (from a list of Civil War veterans buried there) and would guess that others in his family are also buried there. George and Anna are both still living in the 1880 census, both gone by the 1900 census. I don't have much more to offer on them, but if you run into them in your searches, I would like to share whatever we each have.

Thank you!
Mary Lou (Swank)
