Am looking for any and all information pertaining to my husbands deceased Grandmother, Lesta Lena Sybert. She was a twin to Lena Lesta Sybert. Thought to be and look like Cherokee Indian decent. Born in 1800's in Broken Arrow, OK. Any and all help with Birth dates, date of death and marriage date, also definite Indian tribe would be so very appreciated! Thank you! *she married Clarence Cross, don't know when but both died in early 1900's. Thanks again! Sherri Owen

Lesta Lena Sybert was a sister to my husbands grandmother. There were 12 in her family. She was born3/17/1891 and died around 1943. Married Clarence Cross born 1888 and died 1950. They had a daughter Gertrude born 10/25/1907 who married Lloyd Stauffer. I cannot say what state she was born in but her sister Ida Mae(my husbands grandmother ) lived in Putnam County, Ottawa,Ohio at time of her marriage to Charles O. Feathers in 1887 and think the family had lived in that area for sometime. She was not of Indian descent. Her parents were Robert and Lucretia (Wallen) Sybert. You may contact me at radarman@wir.net or this web site www.im3.com/users/johnburn/robert.htm

John Feathers is correct. I too am distantly related to the twins and have seen their names in our family geneology report. They were in fact from Ohio not Oklahoma. My dad was born and reared in Putnam County, Ohio, and his family had lived there for a couple generations before his birth. Before migrating to Ohio the family lived in Pennsylvania, where they settled after immigrating from Germany. I am unaware of any indian heritage down our line. There is a Sybert burial plot in the Kalida cemetery, but I can't say for certain who is buried there. Hope this helps some.

Hi Cousin: I am also related to the Putnam county Sybert's. Who was your father and grandfather. My dad is Leland Sybert, son of Benjamin Leroy, son of Benjamin Franklin who was one of Barnard's sons. Where are you located?
|
My dad's name is Frank Sybert and my grandfather was John Sybert. I have an old Sybert geneology somewhere, but can't seem to locate it right now. I recognize the names you mentioned from reading it several years ago. I now live in Arkansas, but I grew up in St. Louis, MO. I lived in Kalida, OH, for about a year when I was about ten. My dad goes to the Sybert reunion every year, but it has been awhile since I attended. Dad says the numbers are dwindling each year as the older family members pass away. Guess it is time for the younger generations to start attending and renewing family ties.
If you have an updated family geneology report, I would love to have a copy. It's nice to hear from a family member. Sybert isn't a name you hear everyday, so it's nice to know there are a few more out there.

Hi all you cousins. My Great Grandmother was Ida A.Sybert daughter of Robert Sybert son of Barnard Sybert who was the son of Elisa Sybert. I have obtained a family photo of the Robert Sybert family and would be willing to share it with you all. Ida A. Sybert married Cleophos Feathers who was George W. Syberts step son. His mother was Mary E. Metcafe. Cleophous was born in Seneca county Ohio. I'm still looking at records in Tiffan Ohio looking for his father. He was given his mothers Maiden name so not sure if she married after he was born. I understand he was illigitament and his mother was 16 when he was born. Still looking. As for the Sybert family, I have a great deal of information on all of them as well as pic's of cemetery stones for all. It sure would be great to hear form you all. Janet Dempster

My grandfather was Henry Arthur William Sybert, son of John and Emma Burnett Sybert, and grandson of Robert Sybert. Would you mind sharing your Sybert information with me? I would love to see all of the photographs you speak of. My dad was born in Bucyrus Ohio. His dad was Henry Arthur William of course, and his mother was Hazel Rex. I heard that perhaps one of Arthur's sisters married a Rex as well. I'm also looking for information on them. Where is this Sybert family reunion held that yall speak of? I'd love to attend with my father. Thank you so much in advance. I look forward to hearing from you. Christina (Sybert) Bowker

I am looking for information on my GrGrandMother Lena. All I know is she was born abt 1884, was of Cherokee decent, and married Edward Hamann born abt 1880 who was from, perhaps, somewhere around Franklin County, MO. The story told to me by my Mother is Lena and her mother, who's name may be Melinda, were housekeepers for a family. Lena's mother died and Lena stayed on working for this family. Edward and Lena had 5 children: Tillie, Louis, Rosie, Walter, and Edgar. I can not find any information past this generation. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

I am researching my girlfriend's genealogy, and Lena Melinda Holthaus is her great-great grandmother. Lena b. 28 Sep 1884 or 1887, died 4 Apr 1954. She married Edward Hamann (3/30/1877-12/4/1954). Both died in Washington, Franklin, Missouri, and are buried in St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery in Washington.
Lena's parents were John Clement Holthaus (1846-1934) and Louise Heinemann (1851-1923). Both of them are buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Neier, Franklin, Missouri.
Louise's parents were Henry Heinemann and Charlotta Sickendick.
This is as far back as I've been able to go so far. Would like to hear more about Lena being of Cherokee descent. Any hard evidence of this? I am trying to obtain photos of my girlfriend's relations - by any chance do you have any?
My girlfriend descends from Edward and Lena's daughter Tillie, who married Louis Runge.
