SYBERT FAMILY - northern and southern branch???
There is a family history in my family which states (unsubstantiated) that two Sybert brothers came to America from Prussia as mer-cenaries for the British during the Rev.War. It states that one brother went east and the other went south. The brother that went south is possibly JOHN SYBERT (Sibert)who eventually ended up in Georgia. Anyone able to provide information on either lineage will be appreciated, especially anything that will possibly link the two families.
Thanks for your help,
Bill Sybert

Sibert Family, North and South
Bill, I am researching a Sibert/Seibert family from Hocking CO Ohio. The story goes that my ancestor Henry H. Sibert b. 1842 his brother's Adam D., Jacob, and William who all fought for the 58th regt, CO H of the Ohio Infantry were 4 of 9 brothers born to possibly an Adam or John Sibert and when their mother died in the last childbirth in abt 1844, he remarried and left these brothers behind in Ohio with other relatives and took the rest with him and his new wife somewhere in the South. The family was split during the civil war and never reunited because the other brothers fought for the South. I am at a major dead end in ohio, unable to find them with their parents on the 1850 census. The only Siberts on the 1840 Census are a Peter Sibert and a Christian Siberts. Sons of Henry and Adam D. were named William Franklen, John Edward, Asa Adams, and Elmer Ellsworth. Anything to connect? My e mail is redfield@win.bright.net

Thanks for your reply to my query, but subsequently I learned that my JOHN SIBERT was indeed born in Prussia, fought in the Revolutionary War as a mercenary. After the war he settled in South Carolina, married, had eleven children, and died in the Abbeville Dist., in 1825. So, we have two different Johns, but I hope others might find useful either one of our lines. Thanks for you response.

Re: Pennsylvania Sybert''s
In 1870 census for Middletown, Pa, Charles Sybert b. abt 1869 in Pa is "living with family" of Jane McBride b. abt 1819 in Va and sons Simon b. abt 1852 in Va and John W b. abt 1855 in Va. In 1880 census Charles is not living with Jane McBride and Simon McBride has become Simeon McBride. John W McBride has married and is living with his wife and daughters,Minnie and Annie in Harrisburg, Pa. In 1900 census for Glenfield Borough, Allegheny County, Pa there is a Charles Seibert living with his wife, Elizabeth, and children, Ethel B, Robert S, William M and (i think) Eugenia B, all born in Pa. Also living with him is Simeon McBride born in 1851 in WVa.Can anyone tell me who Charles Sybert's parents were and if there is a relationship with the McBrides. John W McBride is my Great Grandfather and I can't find anything on the family brfore 1870. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
