I am looking for origins and information on Henry Sybert b.c.1776 Va? married Catherine b.c.1782,Va. They were in Virginia til about 1826 (child born there) and in Ohio by 1829 (dau. married then). Henry died in 1859, and according to his will had living? children Jacob, Sarah (Biddle), Mary (Barnhart), Sophia (Kesler), Robert, Millie Hannah (Groves) Susanna (Stuck), Rebecca (Carroll or Carol), Sampson, and Adam "decsd, of Hocking Co., 5 minor children". Several of these families were involved in the Mt. Pleasant Bapt church, and were in the Madriver, Jackson tsp areas. Will be happy to share what I have. Cynthia

After further checking I see your Henry and our Henry are not the same. Our family has it's earliest mentioned roots in the US in South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Our immigrant Sybert married a lady from Virginia so there is always a possibility. If you would like to explore that avenue, feel free.

Surnames: Sybert, Seybert, Sibert, Seibert, Long, Dietrick
Cynthia: I not sure if I have a match for you but here goes.
I show a Henry Seibert born abt 1787 in Berkley county, VA married to a Catherine Noll born abt 1789. Married 21 Dec 1809. Henry was the son of Frederick Seibert 1762-1815 and Eva Koppenhaver 1763-1851. Frederick was the son of John Wendel Seibert and Catherine Reiss. John Wendel came over n the ship "Davy" in 1738 I believe. I have info back further if you think we have a match. I don't have any info on Henry and Catherine's children. You may want to do some further research and let me know.
I do have an interest in that my ggggrandfather, Barnard Sybert came from PA to Ohio in the 1850's. He stopped for a time in Champaign County before moving on to Putnam county. I have been unable to locate his father, but thought maybe he had a connection to the Seiberts who came to Champaign county.

Cynthia: I have been doing some additional research on your Henry Sybert. I have an interest in that my Barnard Sybert came to Champaign County, Oh from PA around 1852. He stayed in Champaign County a short time and then moved on to Putnam County, OH. I have been unable to connect him to any of the Sybert, Seibert, Seybert, or Sibert's from the PA or VA area. Though perhaps he might have been related to Henry so that is the reason I have been searching for Henry's ancestors.
Here is what I have found. The 1850 Champaign County census shows Henry and Catherine were born in VA. Now her is the rub. In 1770, West VA didn't yet exist. I have found a Henry Sibert in Berkeley county, WVA and also a Henry Siebert in Shenandoah County, VA. In 1770 both Shenandoah county and Berkeley County were part of Frederick County, VA. In 1776 Frederick County was subdivided into Frederick and Berkeley counties. Later in 1791there was a further subdivision into Berkeley, Frederick and Shenandoah counties. I believe that W.VA didn't exist until after the Civil War or came into existance about that time.
Now the Henry Siebert I found in Shenandoah County, VA married a Catherine Lickliter in 1805. A record of their marriage is listed a www.usgenweb.com site under Shenandoah County, VA listing of marriages. However, in order of that to be the correct Henry, he would have to have been born abt 1776 since the Henry in Champaign County was 74 years old in 1850. Now, Catherine Lickliter was born in 1781, so that jibes pretty well with the age of Catherine in the 1850 census which showed her age at 68. If this is the right Henry, he would have to have been born in 1776.
Now, there is also a Henry Seibert(Sibert) who was the son of Johan Wendel Seibert. Johan Wendel was born in Berks County, PA and migrated to Berkeley County, VA. His son Henry married a Catherine Butterbaugh, I believe. However, I don't think his birthdate would match up a well. And finally, there is another Henry who married Catherine Noll. Again, I don't think birthdates match up. I found the info on Rootsweb.com regarding Henry and Catherine Lickliter. There is quite a bit of info on Catherine's father, mother and siblings.
The other thing that is interesting is that there is also a D. Lickliter listed in the 1840 Champaign County census in the same township as Henry. Based on his age, I think this D. Lickliter is David Lickliter, a younger brother of Catherine. Catherine and David's father was Johan Adam Lickliter and thier mother was Catherine Schmidt. Johan Adam was born 29 Apr 1754 in Berks County, PA . David Lickliter's wife's name was Catheine Clem. They are also listed in the 1850 census for Champaign County.
If I find anything else out I will notify you.

Hi Cynthia,
Your post was made a long time ago. My wife's mother was a Sibert and (we believe) a descendant of Henry's son Samuel (Sampson). We have considerable information on the Siberts.
I'll be happy to share what we know.
Jim

My wife's mother is a descendant of THAT Henry Sibert (the one that married Catharine Lickliter, although we have reason to believe that the one who was the son of Johan Wendel Seibert also spent some time in Champaign County). The sons and daughters of Henry and Catharine scattered, so tracing them has been an adventure! The various Sibert and Seibert families in Champaign County (at least five branches) were actually all related, although they came to and went from the county at various times.
