In Search of Syas Family Members

I am researching the Syas family tree and interested in connecting with other family members.

My grandfather's name is Benjamin Franklin Syas. Ben married Daisy Demby who gave birth to Drunetta, Laura Lee, Eugene, Mae Thelma, Mildred and Ophelia. Ben is the offspring of Carter and Laura (last name unknown). Ben's siblings included Martha, Crisp, George and Harvey. My great grandfather Carter Syas is believed to be the offspring of Joe Syas. Carter's siblings included Billie, Andrew and Jim.

Based on census records, our family members were known to have originated from or migrated to Mississipi, Louisiana, Texas and Chicago.

If you are a Syas descendent and/or have any information that would assist me in completing the Syas family tree, please contact me through this thread or at syasconnection@att.net.

Hi, my name is Sharon D. Outlaw. My mother Shirley is a Cyrus from Luray Virginia. Which is how we spell the name. Up until a few years ago that's the only way I knew how to. Then I met Angell Cyars, Alice Syas-Donaldson, Vernita Morgan and Beaux Syas on Facebook. We learn we had a lot in common. They sent me a picture of one of there older cousins, and my mom though it was her Aunt Lucy. It took me 4 hours to finally get thru to her that it wasn't. She looked so much like Aunt Lucy that the research went into over drive. My uncle before he passed away, told me that my great grandfather John W. Cyrus or his father Jacob Cyrus had 2 brothers who ran away during slavery for North Carolina and else where. They never came back to Virginia, but he did remember hearing they had families where ever they ended up. My cousins Tony Thurston, Del Johnson, Deanna Adams, and I have done our DNA testing. Still waiting for results on mine. 2 Nights ago Angell told me she found out she's related to To the Broadus, Floods, and lots of Johnsons - All my family members!!! There are also Veneys, Garnetts, Giles, etc. We are a very large and loving and welcoming family. I have also learned from Angell that the spelling of the last name was changed when her family migrated to Mississippi. So from Cyrus to Syrus to Sias to Cyars to Syas, this family is growing. I know for sure my grandparents and great grandparents and great great grandparents would love to know the family has continued!! If you haven't done your DNA, I urge you to do so! Not enough of our African American people have. It's a chance to find out where we came from and who's left for us to call "FAMILY". As Sister Sledge" once sang - "We Are Family, I got all my Sisters (and Brothers) with Me!!"

Lots of Love, HOPE and Blessings From our Father In Heaven (and all the generations before us)
