Okay this is a little while in the past. My ancestor Pt Jese or Jesse Syas was in the Revolutionary War. He joined on June 1, 1781 He was from North Carolina:
!Pvt (NC state troops), Rev War, (From "Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina in the American Revolution": Index No. 560: SYRUS, Jesse, 10th Regiment Colonel Abraham Shepard; SYAS, Jesse, Lytle's Company, Enlisted 1 June 1781, left service 1 June 1782. North Carolina Certificate #89920 issued to Syas, Jesse. DAR Patriot Index, 1966, p. 172.
Jesse was not the only son of his father Jesse Sr. He had three brothers John, James and Enoch. I don't know about your family line but with my family on US Census the name is spelled differently.
This family is very involved and I only really know my direct Line. One of Pt Jesse's Son was Smith moves to the state of West Virginia and he has a whole lot of sons and daughters the only one I know what happened to is Jesse who faught in Civil War and moved to Minnesota. It does not seem to me that this is your family; however because of where originated from and my lack of knowledge outside of my direct line it could be. The Revolutionary War was some time back.
