Phillip Anthony ‘Tony’ Woodard-Swygert
Jan. 11, 1961 – April 13, 2006
Phillip Anthony “Tony” Woodard-Swygert, 45, Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord 11:20 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1961, a son of Alexander and Myra L. Swygert.
He was a member of Straitgate House of Prayer, and participated in the Special Olympics community connections through Bona Vista and its affiliates, Crossroads programs and Bona Vista Industries.
He had also resided at Darby Group Home in Kokomo for quite a few years.
He loved participating in and attending his church services. He also attended Roosevelt School.
He was very well known and never forgot a face. To know him was to feel you’ve been touched by an angel.
He is survived by his father, Alexander Swygert; mother, Myra L. Swygert; a brother, Kevin A. Swygert; a sister, Regina Ann Mills; paternal grandmother, Fannie L. Swygert; adopted sister, Velma E. Clark; nephews, Marc A. Swygert, Tyler A. Swygert and Kyle A. Oaks; adopted nephew, Omarian J. Clark; nieces, Monicia, M. Swygert, Nichelle M. Swygert, Shynice L. Collins, Tyeisha L. Oaks, Jayde O. Swygert and Jewell M. Swygert; a great niece, Amariyona L. Swygert; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Straitgate House of Prayer, 312 E. North St., with Pastor Jack Woodard officiating and delivering the eulogy. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
