It was raining the day I drove to Dutch Hollow. I spent most of my time at the cemetery, reading and photographing the stones. I also took a few pictures of the St John's church down the hill, and of the surrounding countryside.
I the only info on the "Lorena" I have is this:
Georg & Margaretha came to America from the port of LeHarve in France aboard the ship "Lorena." The ship had 385 passengers (all farmers) and landed in New York harbor on 5 June 1834. The family bought with them seven chests of possessions, one gun, one waggon, and two hundred pounds of bread. They traveled from New York City to the Buffalo area on the Erie Canal.
That was taken from the "Decendants of Georg Schweyer" web page, so you've probably already found it. I do have some info that my grandmother had researched many years ago, as well as a copy of the 1972 "50th Anniversary Swyers Family Reunion" book. It contains a genealogy and several photos of the older generations. If you were born before 1972 your name might even be in there.
