for the record... Shelumiel and Esther had more than 2 sons... my grandfather is Frank Swineford son of Edgar E Swineford (with whom Cassius and Frank D. are siblings, also John, George, and Mattie) son of Shelumiel and Esther, son of Israel

just looking for fun and saw your post Chris... thought I'd add that I, too, am an ancestor of Israel Swineford - actually on both sides of the family! (my parents are 3rd cousins once removed! Israel is my great great great grandfather on one side and my great great great great grandfather on the other!)

Thank you so much Eric for the information! I haven't heard anything about the children of George and his first wife Hannah before. In my notes I had her maiden name spelled STAHL. Also, for George's place of birth I had Dauphin County, PA. I got my info. from someone who has been to Middlburg, and gone to the Snyder Co. Historical Society for info. on Albright and his heirs. I just wanted to share that as well, maybe it's something to consider looking into for both of us. SMILE. Thank you again so much for your time. Hello Susan,

I have just in the last few days acquired a book of genealogy that my Great Uncle and his wife had researched and compiled back in the 40's - 60's and passed it on to my cousin. Albrecht Schweinfurth is where it begins.

George Michael was born in 1764 In Lancaster County, PA. Israel apparently had 2 sisters, Margaret and Lucinda by the same mother (not the first wife of George), but no birth dates are given. The first wife, (Hannah Sahl), gave birth to Mary (Polly), John, Elizabeth b.d. 1789, George, Phillip and Catherine (both under 14 years of age in 1815).

One interesting note concerning father George Michael is that at the age of 13, he was a drummer boy in the American Revolutionary War, and later became a private.

This is the first inquiry/response I've involved myself in so far about the Swineford's (or any genealogy for that matter). I'm sure they're be lots more!

Someone posted a message saying they had a copy of Albright's will. Several others asked for a copy of it. Is there anyone who would be able to get me a copy? I would greatly appreciate it!!
I am descended from Albright, son George Michael, son Israel Swineford, daughter Lucinda Swineford MILLIRON.
Also, if anyone knows who the children of George Michael were, other than Israel, I would love to know that too.

I have recently found more information on Arella Swineford, born 1855, married Andrew Smith b. 1850, both OH. Two children, Franklin and Infant,parents died by 1883, children 1879 & 1880. I believe Arella's mother was Catharine Singer of Ruggles, Ashland Co., OH, don't know who father may of been. Raised by John and Catherine Singer, her grandparents I suspect because of family papers.

Minor married Sarah Melissa Arnold 4/7/1872 in Ashland County, Ohio. He has a military marker and she has none but there is no record that she was buried in the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Ohio. I have her born 8/1856 in Ashland County, Ohio. They did have 11 children and they have been very hard to track, Laura and Robert Harvey Swineford are the only ones I don't have a DOD on.

I live in Richmond, Virginia and am descended from Albrecht (although I have it as Albright) thru John Albright S, to Jacob S to Howard S to to Edward Agnew S to Elliot Bresee Swineford to William Kearns Swineford I to William Kearns Swineford II to me.

I'd love some more information about the family.

I've got some research from an Aunt that indicates that Albright's father was Johann Jacob Schweinfurth, born in Baden, Germany and I'd like more info on that, if possible.

If OP or anyone else is insterested, I'm a descendent of Israel Swineford and Mary Baughman. One of their sons, Shelumiel, married Esther Matthews and had two sons, Cassius and Frank D. Cassius married Harriett Calderwood, and their only son together was Marion Glenn Swineford. Glenn married Beulah Kline and had (at least) six children, including Billy Eugene Swineford. Billy married Betty Irene Plyler and had four children, one of whom was my mother, Sherry Dawan Swineford. Sherry married Barry James Spangler, and I am their first son. Israel would be my great-great-great-great grandfather.

Israel Swineford was married to Mary Baughman on February 7, 1830. He had a son named Shelumiel Swineford, who married Esther Ann Matthews. I have more detailed information if you are interested! My email is cheriweidlein@yahoo.com

Ida Swineford nee Smith was a younger sister of my grandfather Francis Marion Smith. She was my great Aunt though I was born long after her death. After Ida's death two of her daughters, Ruth and Pauline, were partly raised with my mother by my grandparents.

The Smiths were from near Wooster, Ohio. I think they lived near the small town of Cedar Valley.

I am looking for the Swineford man that married Mary Martien, b. abt 1845 East Huntingdon Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. She and her family lived in Mansfield, Ashland Co OH. Since your Swineford's lived in PA and then Ashland OH, I assume they must be the same Swineford that Mary Martien married into. Have you run across Mary Martien in your Swineford research? Rose E. Swineford who married Frank J. Bush. She was born abt 1860, Ohio; he was born 1855, Ohio. In 1910, they lived in Marion Co, OH and showed five children in the household, including Etta Mae. Edgar P. Dora L., Vernon and Franklin L. They had 12 children, the youngest was Franklin L. Bush, b. 1894 in Marion or Hancock, OH and he married Esther Victoria Gearhart, b. 1896, Crawford Co, OH. Frank J. Bush was a painter.

I have a young girl named Erella or Arella Swineford born 1854 living with John & Catherine Singer in Orange Twp. in 1860 & 1870. I can't tie her to anyone, do you suppose she was a orphan? There are lots of Swineford's in Ashland Area, but where does she belong. The Singer's belonged to the German Lutheran Church.

It's a year later since you posted the reunion news, but I was wondering if you were having another Swineford reunion this year. I have a Arella or Erella K. Swineford that was born about 1854 and she lived with my Gr.Gr.Grandparents John and Catherine Singer for two census years, 1860 & 70 at least. I can't tie her to anyone so wondered if at this family reunion you might be able to bring up this lost girl and find a family for her. They lived in Orange Twp., Ashland Co. Ohio.

The chapter is celebrating it's 100th year and we're hoping to locate descendants of our charter members to invite to the event, November 21, 2008. Nina Coleman Swineford was born in Carrolton, OH on Aug 2, 1872 to Thomas Miller Coleman and Harriett A. Baxter. They had at least three sons George Albert Swineford, Jr. b. 1904 and John Benjamin Swineford b. 1908 died in infancy, and Thomas R. Swineford b. 1913. I have found that Minor Swineford, who is related to Albrecht through a series of people. These include his father Abraham C. (b. 1819). Abraham's father was Peter (1771-1849). Peter's father was Albrecht.

Anyway, I have found that Minor or Miner W. had married both a Melissa Arnold, who was born in 1854 and died in 1874, and he married a Sarah E. Arnold, who died in 1896. I have also found that he had 11 children with Melissa; however, I cannot find marriage dates for either one. It had crossed my mind that these two may have been sisters. Any help would be appreciated.

With children listed as Julia, Ann, George, Casper and Henry. There is also listed in their household Elizabeth Cline. I'm looking for relatives of one of my great-great-grandmothers, Amelia C. Swineford; born in January 1839. She married Henry Yeisley in Snyder County on July 12, 1863, and she died in Hartley Township of Union County in 1929. Penns Creek is on the Snyder/Union County line. Do you have any more information about Swinefords in Snyder and/or Union Counties?

Hi. I was just browsing RootsWeb(have not been on for about two years) and saw your inquiry in reference to Albrecht Swineford. I am a descendent of his son John,(we think). We have copies of Ablrecht's will and other information. My gggrandfather was Albright Swineford, died Synder County, PA., but we can't seem to connect him to parents unless they used middle names. The story goes he was orphaned around 4 years old and raised by Diehl family. He later married one of the Diehl daughters. He is buried at Grubbs Church in Snyder County.
