Found this reference on a site a few days ago , i found it interesting because GVS brother was albert dont know if this is the same one but it is the only reference to a van sweringen i have found in the time period that GVS would of been alive.
here is the reference search van sweringen and it is about a 1/4 of the way down the page.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~mgjkusse/wgame3.htm"1. Een huis en erf omtrent de Kruisweg, groot 28 roeden, volgens de opdrachtbrief van 21-05-1690. Belendingen: noordoost: een verlaten huis van Jan Francois van Berlo, zuidoost: de Heereweg, zuidwest: de Lisserbeek en aan de andere kant ervan Albertus van Sweringen en Catarina Frans van Dalen, weduwe van Jacob Arentze, en noordwest: de erven Jacob van Damme(?)"
when I run this thru babylon dutch to english this is what I get.
1. A house and farm on the process, large 28 roeden, according to the must of 05-21-1690. belendingen: North: an abandoned house of Jan François of berlo, south: the heereweg, South-West: The lisserbeek and on the other hand it albertus of sweringen and Catarina French decrease, widow of Jacob arentze, and North–West: The inherit Jacob van Damme (?)
I tried looking up a few things on google but to no avail i did find this out about Frans van Dalen.
http://www.hoogsteder.com/information/location/historybasically a house was bought ans sold, that is not common but the area and neighbors are. the area was near Rotterdam
and many of the Stadholder's built here.
this is all probaly a wild goose chase but it would be interesting if this albert van sweringen was GVS brother or related to the family.
maybe someone better at using google can find this person and some more info on him.
thank you
tim swearinger.
