The Rev. Walter Gray Sweaney, 89, son of the late James Booker Sweaney and Sarah Elizabeth Perkins Sweaney, was born 9 Mar 1898 in Green Co., died at 4:15 pm Fri 26 Jun 1987 at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was a member of the Oak Forrest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He united in marriage to Annie Vera Lane on 8 Jun 1932, who preceded him in death on 8 Jul 1973. To this union 3 daughters were born: Ruth Lane Sweaney, Beulah Elisabeth Sweaney and Virginia Lou Curry, all of Greensburg. Sweaney is also survived by 1 sister, Lou Ellen Bale, Greensburg; 2 grandchildren, Kathy Lynn Miller, Norcross, Ga., and Karen Lane Curry, Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home at 2 pm Sun 28 Jun with burial in the Lane Cem. in Green Co. the Rev. Randal Gray officiated. Pallbearers were Jim Henderson , Bill Henderson, Gary Price, Bob Scott, David Smith and Hollis Bale.
