I have one of Benjamin's son's in my family tree (Albert Bland Swales- a total rascal). I haven't been able to find a definite birth record for Benjamin although there is a baptism record:
Benjamin Jacques Swales
Gender Male
Baptism Date 15 Dec 1844
Baptism Place Saint Martin Coney Street,York,York,England
Father William Swales
Mother Eliza
FHL Film Number 990899

I think the use of "Eliza" means the handwritten record says "Elizh" for Elizabeth, so Betty is the mother. William's marriage to Betty is:

Name William Swales
Spouse's Name Betty Jaques
Event Date 07 Dec 1836
Event Place Saint Mary Bishophill Junior, York,Yorkshire,England; GS Film number 991197

Williams death:
SWALES, WILLIAM aged 78 GRO Reference: 1893 Jun Quarter in YORK Volume 09D Page 31

Betty's death:
Deaths Mar 1857 Swales Betty; York, Yorkshire V 9d p7

I am not sure if this is marriage of William's parents but it seems to be the one most people have decided is correct. However it's odd that the bride's name is the same as the bride of his son!

Richard Swales
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 8 Jan 1811
Marriage Place: Helmsley,York,England
Spouse: Elizabeth Jaques
FHL Film Number: 990787

Baptism of William Swales:
Name William Swales
Gender Male
Christening Date 11 Jul 1813
Father's Name Richard Swales
Mother's Name Elizabeth Jaques GS Film number 0990787, 0990788

In case you haven't found them yourself by now, look them up on,, and
