One more detail I forgot to mention: My great-grandfather Joseph Swaczy was born somewhere
around the same time as your grandfather, although I don't have the date yet.

Dear Grace, my name is Daniel Matejek, and I live in Hillsborough, New Jersey, not
far from where your grandfather lived. I had a great grandfather by the name of Joseph Swachey from the Ukraine, whose name I
believe was originally Swaczy. He settled in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and then later
moved to Brooklyn, NY.

I am eagerly doing research on my family history and I am going to do all I can to research
Swaczy family history.

Unfortunately, I am just starting out! I have limited information right now, looking
for more. If you have any information of your own, I would greatly appreciate anything
to help me in my own research, as well.

I see that many Swaczys lived in South Bound Brook. Are you related to these other
Swaczys as well? Also, if you don't mind telling me, to what religion did your
grandfather belong? I believe my great grandfather might have been an Eastern,
Ukrainian rite Catholic. Do you have any information
on your family's origins in the Ukraine?

Please feel free to write me at my email address: danielmatejek@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Dan Matejek

Dear Daniel...Thank you for replying to my
Questions about the Swaczy family. Nicholas Swaczy was
my maternal grandfather. He moved his family
to So. Bound Brook, N.J. where they lived for
many years. His father was a lumberjack in
the Ukraine. That is really all I know right
now. I hope to find out more. I have just
started looking. Let's keep in touch and
share any information we find. My grandfat-
her was Russian Orthodox.
Sincerely, Grace

Dear Grace...Thank you for your response and information. Let's definitely share any information that we get on our respective ancestors. You don't know if your grandfather had relatives in Scranton, Pennsylvania or elsewhere in America, by any chance? I would like to ask my grandmother if she knows where her Swaczy relatives lived...maybe there is a connection between the two men, at least distantly. I'll be in touch later. Sincerely, Daniel

Hi, Daniel...Aren't you lucky to still have a
grandmother to share with!! I was always
sorry I didn't
ask more questions when my folks were still
around.
I am planning to send for my grandparents
death
notices when I return from my vacation in
August. I'll be intouch when I know more.
Have a good summer...Grace

Dear Grace...Yes, it is very nice having relatives that still remember from the past. I'm sure it will help my research... Yeah, definitely get back to me whenever you get some info. I'm going to look for the death and marriage certificates of Joseph Swaczy, too, so we'll be able to swap info. Enjoy your vacation, talk to you later, Dan

I don't know if he was related to Alexander...do you have any info on Alexander's ancestors in the Ukraine that we can compare? Looking forward to hearing from you. I am also Italian and Ukrainian.

all i know about Swaczy surname is that the spelling you write match with the pronounce in Ucrainian of Swaczy they probably change the spelling to continue the same pronunce. Also i know that this surname came from the north of Ukraina.
All i know about my grandfather's ancestor is that his father's name was john and he was a stableman of a titled family in poland where he meet my great-grandmother whose name was Anastasia.

Dear Melika...I don't know too much about my grandfather. I do know that his father rode the logs down the river in the Ukraine. My Grandfather married a Polish woman named Anelia. I believe that her mother's name was Anastasia. We all have the name Anastasia as confirmation or middle names. Do you live in Italy? My father came from Naples. Keep intouch!! Grace
