I know of several theories on Swaby origins. There is a concentration of "Schwebes" in Bavaria and Northern Switzerland. Part of Bavaria was known as Swabia. Many of the early UK Swaby's can be found in Lincolnshire - there is a village called Swaby in the county. My own earliest Swabey settled in Lambeth in 1584. This line later settled in Langley Marish, Buckinghamshire. I hope this helps.

Katherine married my g-grandfather Alexander M. Liddell.
I know she was born in Charlottetown, PEI in 1853 and they
had children Alan, Victo, Guy, Margaret and I believ 2 others.

If there's a connection I'd love to hear from you.

My paternal Grandmother was Agnes Agatha Swaby Woode.
Her father was Horatio Swaby. They were from Mandeville
Jamaica, West Indies. If anyone has any further
information on them I would be most appreciative.
I am especially interested in Horatio Swaby's wife.
Agnes had a sister, Catherine and possibly three brothers.

My father, Charles Jackson Swaby, was born in Woodlawn in Mandeville, Jamaica in 1919. He emigrated to London, G.B in the 50's, where he met my mother and had 4 daughters. He also had a daughter before he emigrated to England named Joan Swaby. He died in 1994 without ever having told us anything about his parents or family history. We believe he was raised by his grandfather, but thats all we know about him. Does anyone out there know anything about our family, or know of anyone who might be related to Charles Jackson Swaby in either Mandiville or Kingston, Jamaica?
