WINTERSVILLE, OH – Private family services were held for June Sveda Herd, 72, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio who passed away, Thursday evening, April 11, 2013, from complications of pneumonia.

June, who was affectionately known as “Junka,” was born June 1, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a daughter of Michael and Olga Drapp Sveda, and lived in the area until moving to Wintersville, Ohio four years ago.

A 1958 graduate of Chaney High School and a 1961 graduate of Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, she had worked at Case Western Reserve Hospital (Cleveland, OH) and later was the Director of Admissions at Austin Woods Nursing Center for six years.
She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.

June is survived by two sons, Michael (June) Furda and Mark (Sherri) Furda of Wintersville; a sister, Virginia (James) Osikiewicz of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Christina, Jessica, Michael, Chelese, and Matthew Furda; and many cousins in the Youngstown area.

Besides her parents, June was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jane Sablack.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Building fund, 301 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, OHIO 44405.
