Looking for info on these two. Pete was my grandfather and I can find no info except social security. It is said that he and his brother Anthony came to U.S. from Austria. I'm at a dead end, even went to family history library in Salt Lake. Anyone who could help with ANY info on these two please e-mail. Thanks

Rob, Pete is said to have come from Austria at the end of the 1800's or the beginning of the 1900's. He came over to avoid the manditory military of Austria. He had heard about the gold mines in South Dakota and came to work till he time would be up so he could go back home. But in the mean time he met a rancher near Sundance that showed him where there was land he could homstead near Moorcroft, Wyoming. Then he also met his future bride through the same rancher because she was the teacher in the rural school there. Her name was Margeret Noonan. Her parents lived in Moorcroft. They are both buried in the Moorcroft cemetery.

This much info I already had, but thank you for the reply. I am finding through extensive searches a little more about the family name, but this information you have seems to be the standard issue reply. I found census records that corroberate these facts, and now do not believe there was an Anthony or Tony or Anton or the like. This reply you give is pretty much what Dad (Tom) has been telling me, but nothing more is really known. Take care!

Your uncle Jack said that your grandfather had a brother by the name of Tony. He is buried in the Moorcroft Cemetery, just down from your grandfather. You might want to talk to him to see if there is anything else he can tell you.

Now thats interesting. I can find no record of tony, and no mention of him in granpa's obit. Next time I'm up that way I'll have to stop and look in the cemetery. Was just up there in july but didn't even think to stop in and look there. Thanks again Dianna!

Re: Pete or Anthony Svalina
Hi! I just sent you an earlier e-mail as I noticed your posting in another website. As I stated in that e-mail, I believe that Pete Svalina was my great uncle. I'm sure that my father can provide you with information. Please feel free to send a reply and I would be more than happy to help you in any way I can. Diana Svalina Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
