Hi,
I also know that Svalina family has it roots in Italy, but I don't know which part of Italy.
I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of my relatives has found in church archive that Svalina family came from Italy to Dalmatia. She couldn't find a reason for this migration, but one can be running from a plague in Italy (although this is only a speculation). Šibenik is name of the town where Svalinas arrived and lived there. There is still a village near Šibenik with name Svalina. After some time Svalinas are migrating to Bosnia due to a lot of unpopulated country. There are some Svalina families in Bugojno (central Bosnia). Big part of this group migrated to Germany during last 30 years.
There are also some Svalina families in Croatian towns Đjakovo, Varazdin and Split.
