YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Helen Wesolowsky, 97, of the city’s west side, passed away Wednesday evening, July, 23, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Boardman, Ohio Health Center, following a long and fulfilling life.
Helen was born April 4, 1917, in Shoaf, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Catherine Parimucha Surak, and came to this area in 1942.
She worked for a time for the National Tea Company.
Helen retired from the St. Elizabeth Hospital admitting office, and also worked as a presiding judge and poll worker for the Mahoning County, Ohio Board of Elections for many years.
She was a member of St. Brendan Church, and Senior Citizens Club, and was an avid bingo worker at the church for many years.
Helen was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Ann No. 1875
Mrs. Wesolowsky was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting.
Her husband, Vincent Wesolowsky, whom she married Jan. 21, 1942, passed away July 27, 1968. Helen leaves two sons, Vincent (Joan) Wesolowsky of Wichita, Kansas, and Mark J. (Mary) Wesolowsky of Austintown, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jennifer and William Wesolowsky of Wichita, Kathryn (Wayne) Talbot of Manhattan, Kan., Mark V. Wesolowsky of Poland, Ohio and Michelle and Ella Lynn of Boardman, OH; three great-grandchildren, Roman T. and Sarah G. Talbot of Manhattan, and Ella Lynn of Boardman: and many dear nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband; three sisters, Kate Volpe, Marie Bacho, and Ann Surak; and five brothers, John, Stephen, Andrew, Joseph, and Frank Surak, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown, Ohio.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, and continue at 11:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, OH.
