Dear Juan,
Thank you for your reply on the message board. My aunt Tomasa Sura Kostaras was from Bolson de Mapimi, Sonora. Her father sent his wife and 4 daughters to California, USA during the Revolution of 1910 so they would be safe. They never went back and I don't remember ever hearing more about him. But I remember his picture hanging on the wall! He was in a military uniform and was on a white horse. He looked very elegant! I was told he rode with General Carranza.
My Aunt Tomasa was a short, stocky, Indian looking lady. She was the best cook in the world! She worked for half a century for the Martinelli family of Watsonville, CA. They owned many acres of apple orchards and are famous for their cider.
I would love to know more about my Aunt Tomasa's history. Only one daughter is alive and she is 88. But her grandchildren are alive; she raised them so they also would love to know more.
If you have any more information, I would appreciate having it. Thank you for responding.PS. I am fluent in Spanish if you prefer to write in Spanish. And Tomasa's grandson is a spanish teacher in CA.
