RACING ACROSS COUNTRY
TO JOIN HER DYING LOVER
Miss Lillian Griffith Hurrying to the
Bedside of Frank T. Suman to
Marry Him.
SOUTH BEND, Ind., Dec. 19. - Frank T.
Suman of Valparaiso, Ind., lies on his
deathbed in California fighting off death
so that he can again see his sweetheart,
Lillian Griffiths, 17 years of age, who is
racing across the continent as fast as
trains can carry her.
Suman, who was a social leader in Val-
paraiso, is well known all over Northern
Indiana. He is the son of J. C. B. Suman,
Mayor of Valparaiso. Last summer he
was taken very ill, and hoping to improve
his health went to the Pacific Coast. Miss
Griffiths told him that when he returned
she would marry him, and now she will
marry him in California if she wins her
race against death.
