I am reearching a family tree for my daughter in law. I believe You and she share the same great great grandparents starting with Chrisitan T Suhl and Anna Peters. Would you have any information to share? I am making a "My Canvas" book. It has slots for pictures and places for photos etc.

I noted some conversations regarding other persons using the name Claus Suhl, and also ran accoss someone called Crist Suhl who was from the Davenport area who practiced bigamy.

Any thoughts on this, as to which Claus this would be? There are many of them.

Also, the naming protocol in Germany was mandated, and thus names were predetermined according to birth order, which would explain the presence of multiple Clauses from your area. Americans would fip/flop the names so Bernard could have been Claus Bernard Suhl. In the case of my own family, William Carl Ellman also used Carl William Ellman, and sometimes they used Ellmann and so it's a draw as to when and where he used these names.
