I wouldn't be able to know. My great-grandfather was Louis Sugarman, he was born about 1854 to Solomon and Sterna, and his first child was born in 1874, and the second in 1876 (my great-grandfather) and no more kids after that (from what we know). What we don't know is who Louis's siblings were, or any more about Solomon Sugarman's extended family.

Do you know where Sophia was born? Louis said that he and his parents were born in Mogilev, Russia. He also said he was from St Petersburg and/or went to school in St Petersburg, Russia, so it seems he moved around.

There is a Tzukarman's Synogogue in Mogilev, so I gather there were Sugarmans there.

We have a Sophie in my family but on another side, not a Sugarman.

I finally paid the $$ to familytreedna (www.ftdna.com) to do an autosomal and a Y DNA test to see if any common genes would show up with other Sugarmans, but I think I'm the first Sugarman to join the site.

The autosomal DNA is intended to find common genes with distant relatives going back 5-10 generations or so, on both maternal and paternal sides.
