On the 1840 census there were 3 Strunk families living in Hocking Twp., Fairfield Co., OH:
Samuel, aged 30-40 & 2 males b 1825-1830 and 2 females b 1830-1835; 2 age 40-50 [b 1790-1800]
Abraham, aged 30-40 with a female -5 and another 20-30
Daniel - aged 60-70 and 1 female 20-30 and 1 60-70
Samuel Strunk married Sarah Jones on 9 Dec 1824 in Fairfield Co., OH by Michael J. Steck, M.G.
The Strunk families enumerated in 1850 all list their birth state as PA.
Samuel and Sarah disappear after the 1860 census where Samuel was listed as 56, a shoemaker and Sarah was 50 a homemaker. I find no burial site listed for either of them in Fairfield Co.
Despite the 4 children listed on the early census, I find no marriage records that I can attribute to them nor have I found their names anywhere. I found no probate record for either Samuel or Sarah in Fairfield Co.
They had previously owned land. Samuel bought land in 1830 from Michael Roland, which he sold to George & John Brooks in 1835.
In 1836 he bought 1 acre of land from Benedict Uhle and wife. He and Sarah sold this 1 acre of land in 1852 to Mathias Fisher. All of this land was in Hocking Twp.
On the 1860 census Samuel & Sarah are living in Amanda Twp.
Does anyone know the parents of Samuel, his siblings, the names of Samuel & Sarah's children, or where the family lived or died after the 1860 census?
There is a partition record in Fairfield for Abraham Strunk vs Samuel Thompson et al, but this is for a Thompson estate not a Strunk one.
I'd appreciate any information someone might have to offer on the Strunk families who lived in Fairfield Co., OH during this time period.
