I am looking for ANY information on August Isaksson Bergstrom from the Soder-Vekkoski villiage outside Borga, Finland. A computer-challenged friend of mine might be related to this man, so I have been helping with the genealogical research.
August Isaksson Bergstrom was-
Born: 5 July 1842 Soder-vekkoski, Borgo, Finland
Died: 12 Nov 1926 Borgo, Finland
He originally went by the name August Isaksson, and married Johanna Sofia Andersdotter (b:10 Nov 1839), and fathered 6 children with her between 1863 and 1881. Their children were-
Carl August Bergstrom (b:10 Nov 1863)
Adolfina Bergstrom (b:5 Aug 1867)
Thilda Sofia Bergstrom (b:12 Mar 1871)
Anna Josefina Bergstrom (b:26 Nov 1874)
Johanna Augusta Bergstrom (b:11 Feb 1878)
Mathilda Sofia Bergstrom (b:30 May 1881)
Sometime between 1867-1870 he changed his name to August Isaksson Bergstrom. We also have reason to believe that he was a missionary to Africa for the Finnish Free Church, but exactly when he was a missionary, however, we have no clue. In 1883-1884 he fathered another child in Finland, Wilhelm (William) August (b:22 Oct 1884) Bergstrom, and moved to America (Minnesota). He changed his name to August Wilhelm Stromberg.
After 15 years in America, he then married a Swedish woman named Katarina (b:1871, maiden name unknown) in 1908, living with her son Lawrence (b:1899). August Wilhelm Stromberg and lived in Minnesota till 1923, and after settling Katarina and Lawrence on a farm in Wisconsin, he moved back to Borgo, Finland and died 3 years later, in late 1926.
I am looking for any records of his death, or on the lives of his children in Finland. The HisKi database for Borgo, Finland, abruptly ends in 1881, familysearch.org's information is spotty, and ancestry.com's Finnish information is lacking. Combined, this makes it more than difficult for an amateur genealogist like me to find more information on this man and his Finnish family. Is there anyone who can help my friend and I out? We seem to have hit a brick wall here. I dont exactly know what I am looking for, but ANY information that would fill in the gaps of this person's life would help me out, tremendously. Thanks again. - August
