Hello everyone,
What I have been able to determine thus far, is that nearly all Italian Strianos should be able to trace their lineage back to Cicciano, Caserta, Italy. I have been able to locate four original Strianos in Cicciano, but am unable to determine if they are brothers or cousins, as the records only go back to around 1809 (marriage licenses, however, often listed parents, which is how I was able to get the four originals). Their names are:
Michele Striano, who married Vincenza Masella
Felice Striano, who married Gelsomina Di Palma
Gaetano Striano, who married Giovanna Marrone
Vincenzo Striano, who married Diamante Farinai
I'm sure many of you may have these very names in your own recent family history. In Italy, it was tradition for a son to be named for his grandfather, or a daughter to be named for her grandmother.
I believe everyone who posted here can trace their lineage back to any of those four. In fact, I've done a lot of it myself. Each of them had children, who's children had children. It's been pretty difficult to sort through, but I think I have all I can gather on my own.
If you have any questions, or would like to know if I have found any information on your own history, feel free to respond here or message me, and I will share the information I collected thus far. I would post it publicly, but I do not want to break the privacy of those who are still alive.
Thanks!
Matt
