Hi, I am reading old messages regarding the Stout/Stoute name and its spelling. My family is also from Louisiana, Rayne area. I am a descendant of Pierre Stoute and Amelia Hoffpauir. Their son Volney/Valsaint Stutes is my great, great, grandfather. We spell our last name ever the more differently, it is "Stutes". You think you're confused! I not only have the variations of spelling of the last name. I have deep problems untangling the Stutes families and the Hoffpauir families. They inter-married for a great many years and they continue to do so even today. I know it has been a while since you entered these messages into Ancestry.com, (like January) but if you have any input or other information from your side of the family or mine, please e-mail me. I would be glad to learn of new and more family members. Or maybe help to make connections to the names that I already have and cannot connect parents or siblings. Which I have many!
