Stormes = Storms Trying to make a connection

Looking for descendants of Samuel Stormes born 1842 in Zanesville, Ohio or any of his siblings.. He married Ida Herriman and they had the following children, Iva, Charles, William, Laura, Samuel Clarence, Anna George, Amanda and Julia.

Samuels parents were Joseph Storms and Jenette Storms Kain. Joseph was born in Maryland in 1799. He and Jenette had the following children, Joseph, Melinda, Basil, Samuel, Samantha, Letitia, and Harris.

In all of the records I have seen Joseph did not have the "e" in the last name and Samuels tombstone does not show an "e" in Storms.

We're trying to make the connection between Joseph and my 3xgreat grandfather Rezin Storms.

Both Rezin and Joseph were born in Maryland (New Market District). Owen (son of Rezin) served in the 97th Ohio during the Civil War with Basil, Joseph and Samuel who were all sons of Joseph. They all enlisted on the same day. We know that Basil was killed in the war.

I am looking for info about Ruby May Sells (1891-1930). She was born in Elgin, Ontario. Her parents were Norman Sells (1857-1912) and Amy Stormes (1860-1918). Amy was buried in St. Thomas Cemetery in Elgin, Ontario. Both Amy and Norman were born and died in Elgin. Their children were-Jane(1877-1935), Charles Gilbert (1882-1917), William N (1884-1947),Frank Kennedy (1894-1962),Theo Alesta (1902-1976),
Norman V (1888-1939), Maggie (1879-1963), and Ruby May (1891-1930).

I am searching for information for a Fielding Storms (my 5th great-grandfather) who married an Emely (Emaline?) Nichols in Scioto County Ohio Nov 30, 1829. Emaline is the daughter of John Nichols and Rachel Prather and was born around 1810 in Greenup County, Kentucky (which is directly accross the river from Scioto County, Ohio). The Nichols family in Greenup County Kentucky were not difficult to locate as there are many of them, however, I have only been able to locate a Joseph Storms in Greenup County Kentucky during the 1830 cencus.

Fielding Storms and Emaline Nichols had at least 2 children that I am sure of...Alfred G. Storms b. 1835 in Greenup County Kentucky (which it appears he could have been named after Emaline's brother Alfred George Washington Nichols, who died around the same time Alfred Storms was born) and Ary Ann E. Storms b. 1837 in Ohio(and who also appears to be named after Emaline's sister Adaline Ary Ann Nichols).

Others have noted that a 3rd child was born to Fielding Storms and Emaline Nichols, a Gully/Gilly or Lillie Ann Storms who was born about 1830 in Ohio.

In following my grandfathers back I was led to Fielding Storms. I found Alfred G. Storms (my 4th great-grandfather) living in Greenup County Kentucky in the 1850 census. He was 15 years old at the time. Ary Ann was also listed in the same household. They were living with their mother, Emaline, who was, at that time, remarried to John Rutherford Barney. John Rutherford Barny and Emaline (Storms) Nichols had a daughter together, Mary Jane Barney who was born in Greenup County Kentucky in 1843.

I am not able to find Emaline nor Fielding nor any of their children in the 1840 census, but it appears they could have been living in Ohio as Ary Ann was born in Ohio in 1837. However, Emaline did remary to John Rutherford Barney on September 30, 1840.

In 1860 Alfred G. Storms (my 4th great-grandfather) is found in Lawrence County, Ohio. He is living with his wife Lucinda (McNight) and their 2 year old son, Henry G. Storms. I have Alfred and Lucinda as haveing a total of 3 children, Henry G. Storms b. 1858 in Lawrence County, Ohio; Susan Emaline Storms b. 1863 in Lawrence County Ohio; and Mary A. Storms born in 1868 in Lawrence County Ohio. After this, Alfred G. Storms disappears and his wife, Lucinda, remarries to a Wilson Nance in July of 1870.

I have read a lot on the Storms families and can find no connection to my Fielding Storm. His name could also be Joseph or Joseph Fielding as I mentioned I did find an 1830 census record in Greenup County Kentucky for a Joseph Storms. If anyone has any information on this man or his family help. I am desperate to find answers.

you and I are most likley related. I am also from Lawrence County, OH and my mother was Anita Stormes, daughter of Meredith (Pete) Stormes and Sally Smith. I have been researching this side of my tree for quit a long time. I have all of the information back to Fielding Storms who married Emaline Nichols in Scioto County in 1829. I would be glad to share information with you.

Searching for parents of Ephraim Storms, living in Phillipstown, Dutchess (Putnam?) county NY ion 1790 census. His son was Thomas b.1811 in Fishkill NY, whole family moved to Vernon NJ by 1830. hello, the name Rock(e) doesnt ring any bells with me... the only Stormes relative that I know of from CA is named "Hack" originally from Merritt Island, Florida, he, his wife, and children live in CA, I dont know where.

I am the grandson of art stormes and son of James stormes and now live in the sacramento,ca area. My grandfather served in the USN in WWII, and after moving all over the northern part of the US settled in tracy,CA. I would live any and all info if anyone knows of my family, I was also told that we may have had the last name ROCK or ROCKE when my ancestors arrived here. Thanks for the help.

Edward F. Stormes Obit
JACKSON — Edward F. Stormes, Sr., age 79, formerly of Adrian, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Foote Hospital.
He was born in Adrian on Jan. 13, 1928. During World War II, Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ed married Virginia Beery Doan in 1987. Virginia preceded him in death. Ed worked as a machinist in various tool and die shops, mostly in Jackson. He was a member of the Grotto Club. Ed loved to play golf and also enjoyed bowling.
Ed is survived by his children, Edward Stormes, Jr. of Adrian, Roberta Stockard of Texas, Laurie Bowersox of Jackson, Michael Stormes of Jackson and Mary Jo Jackson of Jackson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a brother, Clifford Stormes of Battle Creek. Also surviving are Virginia’s children, John (Ruth) Doan of Adrian, Christopher Doan of Tecumseh, Melissa (Greg) Megale of Adrian, S. Barry (Gudrin) Doan of Walled Lake, Greg (Karen) Doan of Onsted and Jay (Lisa) Doan of Monroe.
In addition to his wife, Ed was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
At Ed’s request cremation has taken place and all services will be private. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ed may direct their gifts to the charity of their choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wagley Funeral Home.

I have a relative by the name of Russell Stormes (or Storms)-born 1900...whose wife was named Nellie. They lived in Trainer, Chester Co., Pa. They had a daughter named Shirley who married a Sutton. I'm looking around for my gggrandma Mary Elizabeth Stormes, who married Alva Byron Clark. Their children include my ggrandma Laura Catherine Clark who married George Arnold Bronson. Their daughter, Ora Mae Bronson married George William Clarke, and their son was my dad, Alva Byron Clarke 2nd.
I don't know much about any of my father's lineage, and knew nothing until I lucked out about the Stormes brewing in my ancestry. (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)
