CHILLICOTHE: John M. Stockbridge, age 93, died December 12, 2014.
He was born August 10, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland to Henry and Mabel (Patton) Stockbridge.
At the age of four he was afflicted with polio and survived to lead a full life.
He married Margaret Davis on September 7, 1946.
He was captain of the wrestling team and graduated from Lehigh University in 1943.
Before moving to Chillicothe, Ohio, he worked as a sales engineer for General Electric and Rexnord.
He and Martie opened their home to numerous international students through AFS, beginning with Jens Boe in 1964-65.
Along with his son, Bill, he started Central Center Hardware Store, Chillicothe in 1977.
He was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church and was twice named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Henry and Robert; and his wife, Martie.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pam of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, James and Hyla of Denver, CO, William and Madeline of Chillicothe, OH and Richard and Judith of Mequon, WI; he is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A family memorial service will be planned.
