My uncle, Fred Stickel was married to a Eunice. Don't know maiden name. You don't mention age. The Eunice I knew would have been born anywhere from 1915-1930 ? They lived in Regina, Sask. Canada and both died there as well.

Stickle and McClain of Pennsylvania

Found this on rootsweb and tried to write originator... email rejected..not valid...I'm looking for info on marriage of David Stickle and Margaret McClain.

Have some questions regarding this entry:

14. DAVID7 STICKEL (GEORGE6, EDWARD5, GEORGE4, JAKOB3 STICKLE, PETER2, PETER STICKLE1 STUECKEL) was born September 04, 1837. He married (1) NEVADA ARMSTRONG. He married (2) MARGARET MCLAIN, daughter of JOHN and MARY MCCUEN.

Believe census records bear that David’s first marriage was to Margaret and they had 4 sons…Margaret died in 1889. You show Margaret to be the daughter of John and Mary McCuen and this is what I’d like to find your source for. I believe this Margaret to be the daughter of John and Catherine or Keturah (Verges or Burgess) who lived in Fayette County, Washington TWP. John McClain died before 1870, Keturah died around 1871 or so. Keturah’s will listed one of her daughters as Margaret Stickwell.

(Posting of mine on Roots Web: My ancestor John McClain m. Keturah BURGESS. Both John and Keturah born
and raised Fayette Co 1791-1794 and died prior to 1870 and 1871
respectively. Their children including married names Sarah Jane
HARRIS, Mary LAYTON, Melinda NICHOLS, Lavina SMOCK, Barbara VALE,
Margaret STICKWELL, Charlotte ??. Grandchildren Plumer McClain, Eliza
CURWIN per 1860 census. Also grandchildren in 1850 census Melissa, John
& Hannah McClain children of Jacob. )

Thanks for any info.
Frederick and Elizabeth Stickel

I am descended from a John Jerome and Margaret Stickle(s) who were married at a baptist church in Dutchess County, town of Bangall in New York State, in 1794. According to a document found in Greene County, Margaret Stickle's parents are listed as Frederick Stickel, born June 18, 1727 and Elizabeth Stickel, born February 8, 1747. Does anyone out there have any information on this family? I would appreciate any information anyone may have. Much thanks!!! Rick

My fathers name was Charles Stickel and lived in Herllyvill NY almost all of his life I am 19 years old and never got to know the stickle part of my family and I am looking for my sister and my brother on that side. My sisters name would be Kathy (sp?) and I am not sure about my brothers name. What I know about my father is a small amount of information that he lived in the “mountains” planted trees in Jewish camps and another thing that might help is my mothers name Sharon. My father died when I was about 13. I regret not knowing him and his family and i would so much like to get in touch with my past... My family...

Although my C.F. is a Stickel and not a Finkel, I do know there were 4 entries for a Louisa Stickel in the Ancestry.com database. Right now I'm stuck at C.F. (Conrad Friedrich). I cannot locate any siblings or parents for him. He came over here in about 1854 along with a Theodore Stickel and a Johann Michael Stickel. They were all from Loffenau. His dob is about 1834. I do know he married a Theodora Fredericka Stickel in 1857.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

My STICKELs came from Lutzenhausen (Hesse-Castle) Germany. They came to US in 1833 on the Phoenix, ported in Baltimore and, at first ended up in Warrenton, VA where Daniel was an overseer of slaves on a plantation there. Around 1840 they moved to Somerset, Perry Co., OH, where they settled.
I can send you a GEDcom file if you want. Just give me an email to send it to. It's about 44K, just the STICKEL line.--Charlie

John Stickel b. Pennsylvania

I am trying to find the parents of a John Stickel who was born in Pennsylvania about 1800. On the 1850 census, he was living in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania with his wife Catherine and children named Samuel, Anna, Benjamin, Christian, Fyanna, Jacob, and Susan. I descend from Jacob.

Research that I have found at ancestry suggested that John could be the son of Valentine Stickel. I am trying to prove this to be fact or disprove it and find John's actual parents.

I am hoping that someone might be able to help find John's parents whether his father is Valentine or not. In Valentine's will he mentions a son named John. He could be mine but I just can't prove it.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nancy

Rick, I unfortunatly do not have information for you although I will do a little of my own investigation. I was wondering if you had more information on decendants of John Jerome and Margaret Stickle. My family tree I can go back to John W Stickle and Caroline both born around 1820 in Dutchess. I have been trying to find John's parents. Interessting note is that John and son Richard both changed spelling from Stickle to Stickel in the later 1800's somewhere down the line it again changed back to Stickle.

Henry W. Stickel was my great grandfather. My grandfather was Willis C. Stickel and a brother of Clarence but we referred to him as Roscoe. I have found that their parents were Henry W. and Melvina LaCronne Stickel. I also have found that Henry W. Stickel was born in Lancaster Co. PA and I think his parents were Henry and Eliza Stickel. I can't fo any further back than that. I'd appreciate any information that you might have. Thanks.
Dave Stickel

Beverly,
I am looking for info on Hannah, wife of one Peter Stickel.
I have deeds to land that my father inherited, although sold in 1996, from his father and so on and so forth with peter and wife hannah as the purchasers. They attended and were a part of the Mt. Gilead Society at the beginning of Methodism, as worded in the "Elwin United Methodist Church - Sesquicentennial 1836-1986. I'm trying to find out Hannah's surname, since I think she's one of my GGGGGGG Grandmas. I also see the name Craycroft and I have a couple of land documents with the name WB CRAYCROFT, and I know when I lived on the farm, I new the craycrofts lived down the road. I am also related to the HOCHERS, CRUMS, CRAFTS, AND WHITES OF THE DECATUR, ILL. AREA AND CAN'T FIND AND DON'T HAVE ANY INFO ON THESE OTHER NAMES.

I saw several Sam Stickles(and other spelling variations) in the Ohio Indexes to the 1850, 1870 & 1880 censuses. I am looking for Samuel N.(Nick) Stickles(and other spelling variations) who was born early 1830's, was a Confederate soldier in Louisiana, whose father was I think born in N.Y., & whose mother(Ugenia or Mimi?) I think was born in Ga. I can trace him in La. from 1860 on, but not further back. Any help would definitely be appreciated!!!

Stickel in New York State

I am descended from a John Jerome and Margaret Stickle(s) who were married at a baptist church in Dutchess County, town of Bangall in New York State, in 1794. According to a document found in Greene County, Margaret Stickle's parents are listed as Frederick Stickel, born June 18, 1727 and Elizabeth Stickel, born February 8, 1747. Does anyone out there have any information on this family? I would appreciate any information anyone has on this family. Much thanks!!! Rick
