Elery P. Stickels, Perryopolis Couple, Married 50 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Elery P. Stickel, well-known residents of Perryopolis for the past forty-eight years, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Tuesday, May 8, at their home.
The couple was married May 8 [could be 6], 1895, in the parsonage of the Methodist Church at Perryopolis, by Rev. Cary, pastor of the church at that time.
The anniversary was observed with open house from 1 to 5 o'clock in the afternoon and from 7 to 9 in the evening. Many relatives and friends of the couple called to extend congratulations. Mrs. Stickel fell the previous week, facturing her arm, but was able to greet all who called. The couple received many lovely gifts and flowers, as well as golden wedding greeting cards.
The Stickels are the parents of three living children, Arthur J. and Ellis R. Stickel and Mrs. Clarence E. Kerr, all of Perryopolis. The also have five grandchildren, two of whom are with the armed forces, and two great grandchildren.
