Stickel (Benmark), age 101, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at MidMichigan
Gladwin Pines.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1907 in
Gladwin to the late John and Lena (
Hull)
Linton.
She was a retired teacher who taught school here in
Gladwin and was a member of the
Skeels Baptist School.
She is survived by one son, Gary Benmark of Nashville, Tennessee; three daughters, Darlene (Donald) Douglas of
Harrison, Melody (
Stuart) Eschtruth of
Eaton Rapids, and Trudy (Terry)
Cairns of St. Johns; stepdaughters, Eleanor (Rev. Donald)
Roberts of
Gladwin and Marilyn (Rev. James)
Mellish of Warren; a sister, Janice
Hillman of Gladwin; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Ray Benmark in 1962 and Walter
Stickel in 1975; a son,
Maynard Benmark in 1979; five brothers, Earl, Roy, Henry, Johnnie, and George; and half brother, Elmer
Linton.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 28 at the
Emmanuel Baptist Church with
Pastor Joseph Dorias presiding. She was laid to rest in
Highland Cemetery. Sisson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
