I am continuing to search for relatives or researchers of the Charles C. Stibbens family of Maryland and of Texas, my great-great grandfather who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, and whose name is engraved on the San Jacinto monument.
Charles C. Stibbens was born in Maryland in 1810 but came to Texas in 1835 to fight for Texas' independence from Mexico. He resided in Anderson County, Texas until he removed his family to southeast Collin County in the fall of 1870 where he died.
I am particularly interested in locating and contacting researchers with links to his Maryland family.
More on him and his descendants from 1810-1992 can be found in my book, "Charles C. Stibbens, Soldier of the Battle of San Jacinto, Citizen of the Republic of Texas," published and copyrighted in 1992 by Brenda Kellow. In it I have listed and cited each generation of each of his children through 1992. The book is on film at the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, and may be obtained through loan from your local LDS Family History Center.
If you find connections in it to your family, please contact me at
TraceRoots@comcast.net. I would love to add your information to the second edition of a forthcoming publication.
Let's keep the family connections verified, cited, and visible.
Thank you,
Brenda Kellow, B.A., CG
