I have lots of Steinkes all from four siblings that came from Pomerania, Germany and settled in Mecosta and Montcalm Counties, Michigan in the 1880's. Their father was Johann Steinke and the mother Caroline Miantz. Will glady share with anyone with connections!

My Grandfathers family also settled in MI April 1891 from Poznan Germany. Frederick STEINKE (1862-1954) with wife Marie Farr CZERVON (1866-1945) sailed on the AMALFI from Konigsberg Kaliningrad, USSR -along with their two oldest daughters Helena and Gertrude. They lived in Antrim Co., Charlevoix Co., and Boyne City, Wilson Twp. where they raised their 11 children: George, Ernst Walter, Edward, Emil Paul (my Grandfather), William Fred, Anna, Bessie (still living in FL age 99), Cora and Lawrence. Gr-Grandfather changed the spelling of their last name to STENKE, which his whole family used.
I have found what I think is proof that his PARENTS...Fred Fernanan and Rosie (BATHKE) STEINKE also came to the US... from graves I found in Oseola Co. Sherman Twp. Fred (15 July 1836-21Jan 1917) and Rosie (8 Sep 1832-27 Feb 1903)...but other family members say they did NOT come to the U.S. I need proof, ship log or census.....

My grandfather was Edward Steinke and was married to a Harriet Langgood. He died around 1940-41 at about 38 yrs. of age after falling down some steps and breaking his neck. My grandmother never remarried. Her family was from the Buffalo,NY area. My grandfather had a brother named John and two sisters named Gertrude and Grace.I think Grace's married name was Lowe. I have very little info about my Grandfather as he was very non giving of info about his past and died very young.I also think he lived in Warren,MI. when he passed. He had 3 children Betty,Eleanor, and William. If anyone has any info please e-mail me. I never new him and am just curious to know more.
