My Grandfathers family also settled in MI April 1891 from Poznan Germany. Frederick
STEINKE (1862-1954) with wife Marie
Farr CZERVON (1866-1945) sailed on the AMALFI from
Konigsberg Kaliningrad, USSR -along with their two oldest daughters Helena and Gertrude. They lived in
Antrim Co.,
Charlevoix Co., and
Boyne City,
Wilson Twp. where they raised their 11 children: George,
Ernst Walter, Edward,
Emil Paul (my Grandfather), William Fred, Anna, Bessie (still living in FL age 99),
Cora and Lawrence. Gr-Grandfather changed the spelling of their last name to STENKE, which his whole family used.
I have found what I think is proof that his PARENTS...Fred Fernanan and
Rosie (
BATHKE)
STEINKE also came to the US... from graves I found in Oseola Co. Sherman Twp. Fred (15 July 1836-21Jan 1917) and
Rosie (8 Sep 1832-27 Feb 1903)...but other family members say they did NOT come to the U.S. I need proof, ship log or census.....
