James Major Steel / George Steel

Hi can anyone help ? I'm trying to find James Major Steel father of George Steel. On George Steel's Wedding Cert George Steel is 25 years old when he got married to Elizabeth Mary Ann Rachel Prince on the 25th June 1895,at Bethnal Green. James Major Steels profession is Blacksmith. I can find James Majors parents Charles James Steel and Mary Steel but the dates and ocupations on the census and indexes are not right. Any help greatly appreciated.

John Garner Steel is my greatgreat grandmother Abigail's brother. Would be glad to share in information I have with you. Have a picture of Abigail with some of her brothers but not sure which ones. I visited Scott and Isabella Gorrell Steel's graves in Iowa in Aug. 2009. The name is Steel on the stone. Can't reach Jack Childers either to relay what info I have so have been replying to his posts. Maybe you have heard from him since you posted this several years ago.

I live in Chester Co, but am from Camp Hill and Mother, Sara Klingler, was from Marysville. Also have been to Perry, Chester and was at Berks on Wed. Did not find anything other than 1780 Census listing David in Cumb. Co. Sorry, I guess site no longer avilable. Try McCurdy Family Genealogy Forum on Genforum. Enter Talbot in Search. "McCurdys documented in Berks Co PA" should be listed. This has a copy of the Estate Records of Jos. Talbot. It would probably be easier by e-mail. Mine is linlef6@aol.com

I have not seen the estate records of Joseph Talbot, and could not open the address at Roots Web that you spoke of. If you would like my personal e-mail address I would be glad to give it to you. The Estate Records of Joseph Talbot lists "Margaret intermarried with David Steele dec'd" and Ruth as widow. This can be found at www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/will/talbot-joseph.html. Berks Co has estate records on line. Info on Joseph Talbot can also be found in Chester, Berks and Del. Co.
Also have been looking, unsuccessfully, for David Steel before he moved to Perry Co. Found record of David Steel in East Nantmeal, Chester Co Tax Discounts 1785-1823 at Chester Co Archives site.
My line is David, Jacob, Joseph Tolbert, Sarah Ellen Hummel, Clara Koontz, Sara Klingler.

I have records of a William Steele who was born Apr. 1827 in NC. Could this be the son of the William you are looking for? He was in Lee County, KY in 1900 and his age is listed as 73.

I am looking for descendants of Robert Samuel STEEL and his brother Charles William STEEL who immigrated with their mother Emily Bertha STEEL (nee PADDON) to South Africa between 1888 and 1891.

Emily Bertha PADDON and William Francis STEEL had 5 boys all born in Westminster, Middlesex, England:

Stanley (b 1859) possibly d. 1873
Charles William STEEL (b. 1860)
Robert Samuel STEEL (b. 1862)
Thomas George (b. 1863) possibly d. 1874
Benjamin Frederick STEEL (b. 1865)

In 1888 William Francis STEEL died in London and Emily later died in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1903.

Benjamin Frederick was my GG Grandfather and died in Brisbane, Australia in 1941. Both Robert and Charles were jewellers and/or watchmakers as was their father William. Benjamin left home at 16 to become a merchant seaman.

Robert married Charlotte Ann LAIDLEY in 1894 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. There is a family story that Charles William STEEL went to America but I have no proof of this as yet.

My Mother, Florence Joan Tayler Steel(e) was the daughter of Robert Tayler Steel(e) and Theresa Florence Cutler. They were married in 1914 in Wandsworth, London.

Robert had the following siblings: May (1883), Leonard Lloyd (1886), George Bond (1889)and Florence Daisy (1891).

I am looking for more info on a William Steel in the 1790 census of old Orange (the area that is now Alamance) county, NC.

William seems to be born about 1755 in NC? He seems to have died before the 1820 census.

I THINK that Henry's father was a William Steel(e) living in Orange Co, NC. From the census it looks like William was the father of 7 kids, 6 boys and 1 girl, I don't know anything more about him.

i am a descendant of the Steel children mentioned in the 1860 census for Madison county. Benjamin Steel was their father but he seems to have dropped out of the picture in 1860. He reappears in 1870 census. There were children of his family placed in both the Rolston family and the Shaver family. I think the reason was the death of their mother Elizabeth in 1858. Would like to find where Benjamin went in 1860. All the names listed as subject intersect with my line including Long and Smith.

David Steel and Margaret lived in Watts Twp, Pa and are both buried there. Need proof that Margaret Talbot is the daughter of Joseph Talbot and Ruth Ann Davis of Chester County Pa? Do you know where David Steel is from originally? I know he lived in Watts from 1780's to 1804 and know history of his children and their families. Just can't find his origins.

I am looking for information on Hiram Steel (Steele), brother Henry J. Steel (Steele), sister Rebecca (who married (1) John Walters and (2) unknown Clegg). Hiram Steel (Steele)b. 16 Jul 1800 in North Carolina, died 2 Jan 1876 in Christian Co., KY; buried in Steele Cemetery, Christian Co, KY. Hiram married Elizabeth Green(e)Hayes b. 12 May 1801 North Carolina, d. 13 Jan 1880 Christian Co KY and is buried in Steele Cemetery, Christian Co, KY. Their children were Mary Jane, James Delaney, Joseph Franklin, Thomas Marion, Marthy (Martha) Elizabeth Green.

Henry J Steel lived in St. Louis Co. in 1849, Belle Grove P.O. his wife was named Elizabeth.

Rebecca was born abt 1814 in Tennessee {?} died aft 1900 in St. Louis, MO. Her daugher was Mary Ellen Walters who married Christian Birkicht.

Looking for parental relations for the Steele siblings. They had an "Unkle Samel" according to a letter from Hiram to Henry in 1849.

My grandfather was also called Robert Steele. I don't know about his date of birth but I do know that my FATHER was also born in Croydon and that his parents (his father being Robert Steele) had lived there since they were born.

I do wonder.....

If you don't mind me asking, who is your father/mother? (I mean, who's father was Robert Steele)

I noticed your names list, we have STEELEs going to Winsconston 1854 approx.
Possibly a coincidence, our families are recorded from 1698 (and earlier when I confirm info) in Cambusnethan, Summerside farm.
Also looking for a David STEEL abt. 1830 he seems to dissapear, probably emigrated.
