My greatmother was Ida Staton born Aug 1879 in MO. She married John Churchwell 2/22/1899 in Taney County MO. John name was typed incorrectly as Ohn Churchwell. Children Carl, Omah, Ada, Lois, Thelma, Arthur. Ada was my grandmother.

John Churchwell was born in TN, lived in Locust Grove AR, she lived in Porum Mo. They were in Big Creek MO in 1900. Ida father is listed born in Alabama, mother in Arkansas. They are listed as white. Ida died sometime in the aft 1932 but before 1945. Family history says she died in OK. John lived until 1961. DOB 10/15/1876.

John and Ida were in Drumright Creek, Ok in 1920 and 1930. These later census records list Ida's father as born US - no state listed.

1930 census lists the family as Neg cotton farmers. Ida is listed as Staten Churchwell. Despite the errors in the census info - I am positive this is the correct line. The children listed and the dates and places match. They ARE my grandmother and her brothers and sisters. John was defintely listed incorrectly - he was not Black. . Ida ??? - fuzzy on that. Pictures of her make me think that is incorrect. Family oral history is that she was Native American but so far I haven't found a connection to date.

I found a Jinsy Staton married Samual Laffoon in Taney Co Mo in 1891. Is there any connection there?

If any has any information on this line, it would be greatly appreciated.
