Hi Laurena, Albertus is my grand father as well, I am the son of Gloria Jean Patricia Stadler. He was born 18th of June 1904 and died between 11th and 18th of July 1942. He worked for Irvin & Johnson and was the skipper on a trawler called the Galaxy, the sister ship was the Freesia. He was killed when there ship ran into rocks at night off the coast of Port Elizabeth in bad weather and the ship capsized. All hands on deck were lost. He's body was never recovered.

My link is thru her brother James Kane b- 1875, NY married Annie Kelly b- 1879 PA, Annie was a nurse in NYC, d/o Patrick Kelly born 1856 Ire, & Catherine Mason b- 1858 PA. They were in Tioga co, PA 1880 census. I have obits of Loretta Stadler states her brother James Kane of NYC and sister Josephine Kane of NJ. Loretta Kane Stadler died 1943.

I was able to trace a Stadler line of my family to 1988, where Anthony Stadler died in Baltimore. His father, Vincent (sometimes spelled Vincenz) Stadler came to the U.S. in 1891 from Bohemia. If anyone is researching this family, I'd love to hear from you.

Family trait - do not get gray hair

I am researching Jacob Stadler born NOV 1821 in Bavaria. He died in Illinois. I have not been able to find birth town, siblings or parents. He does not have any direct male line descendants so Y - DNA testing can not help find other Stadler connections. I am hoping the non-graying hair trait may have been passed down from him rather than his wife and that another Stadler researcher may have this trait in their line and may be related.

Sorry I cannot help you. My Buchmann's (Anna Stadler nee Buchmann) immigrated to Pittsburgh from Romania in 1905 & 1906
My family had some contacts, that I know of, through letters to siblings that stayed in Romania. The last letter was from about 1963.

He was married to 1)Eliza Jane Gates 4-1-1860 in Indiana. 2) Nellie Unknown b-1824 Ohio 3) Ellen Henderson b-1819 Virginia 4) Lizzie Osborn b-Dec 1843 Indiana. His children were Isaac b-1861 Indiana and John Alfred b-Dec 6, 1863 in Indiana. Isaac disappears before 1880 so I am presuming that he died young. His mother died before 1870 in Indiana. I was tested with FamilyTreeDNA.com. It cost me $129 at that time (3 years ago). they send test kit thru the mail. You swab your cheek and they send you results. They are the first and largest genealogy testing lab.

If you are female you can have your MTDNA tested but that only provides information on your female line, your mother, her mother and so on.

The main test being used for genealogical purposes in the Y Chromosome DNA test and only males have that. It goes only from father to son so follows the surname.

There are several Stadler males who are part of the Statler DNA project. So if one of them is your ancestor we have their results. If you have a Stadler male cousin he can be tested.

I found something else at FamilySearch. The marriage of Richard Anderson and JOSEPHINE M R STADLER 19 JUN 1894, Clackamas, Oregon. Clackamas County might be where your Josephine was born.

In the 1900 census I found a Josephine Stadler indexed as STATLER in Howell Praire Precinct, Marion County, Oregon.
She is listed with the following family:
Joseph Statler/Stadler born Apr. 1864 age 36 born Germany,also parents, emmigrated 1891
wife Mattie born June 1867 age 32 born Germany,also parents, married for nine year 4 children born and 4 living, emmigration unknown.
Children
Josephine born June 1894 Oregon
George June 1895
Annie Aug 1896
Joseph Jan 1898
all children born in Oregon
and Joseph's mother
Josephine born 1822 (month unreadable) in Germany with only 1 child 1 living.
I find TWO Josephines in 1910 both single.
In Mt Angel Josephine is with Joseph but his wife is listed as Mary age 42 they had been married 16 years and had the children as in 1900 Mary had emmigrated in 1893.
I found Joseph and Mary Stadler in 1930 in East Mount Angel, Marion County Oregon he from Bavaria she from Wurtemburg.

There is also in 1910 a Josephine M. R.Stadler age 15 born Oregon listed as stepdaughter of Richard Anderson.
Richard Anderson and wife Mary were in East Montesano, Chehalis, Washington. Mary was listed as age 40 born about 1870 in Switzerland as were her parents. She emmigrated in 1886 and had been married 16 year with 5 children living 4 Anderson children were born 1904-1909

Since Josephine lists her mother born in Switerland in 1920 and 1930 It looks like there are TWO Josephine STADLERs born 1894 in Oregon.

I checked for Richard Anderson in 1900 and found his family in Castle Rock, Cowlitz, Washington
wife listed as Mary R. J. born Sept 1869 Switzerland, and oldest daughter Mary J. R. (Anderson) born May 1864 Oregon.

It looks like this Mary J.(Josephine) R. Anderson is Josephine M. R. STADLER and is your ancestor. There are documents you could locate that might give more information. Marriage records often lists parents names as do death certificates. A great deal of caution needs to be used to make sure you have the correct Josephine.

DNA Project 10 Year Anniversary

The Statler (including Stadler, Stetler, Stettler, Stotler etc) DNA Project was announced ten years ago. It has been a very interesting activity. The first six months or so there were no matches but then things started to improve. Some of the family groups I thought might be related were not, but some were.

I have updated my website and fixed or deleted bad links, and added a little information on Groups 5 and 6.

I'm looking for information on my great grandmother Josephine R. Stadler? She was married to Cyrenius Sylvester Ackley and Thomas Lyndel Sayer. The 1900 census has her living in Mt. Angel,Marion,OR. The 1910 census married to Cyrenius ackley.
It would help me out a great deal if I had Josephine's birth place and the names of her parents and grand-parents.

My grandfather, John Joseph was Lawrence's younger brother.
My father (William or Billy) is the oldest of his family. I am the oldest of the next generation (33 of our generation) You are the first "Stadler" family member who has been in contact with me.
Could you tell me Lawrence's middle name?
I assume James was your husband's Uncle. My dad remembers him from when they were much younger.
I have some neat articles from the Kansas City Star where our mutual Great-great Grandmother, Mary Stadler tried to burn down Rosedale (accident of course)

I am just messing around on here, and this is my first time using an geneolocical website. I found out a few minutes ago that Stadler the surname is also occasionally borne by Ashkenazic Jews, apparently as an adoption of the German surname. The surname "Stadler" itself stems from a derivative of the old German stadel ‘barn’, ‘granary’. It is not solely Jewish though. My Family is Catholic and came over before world war one.

I have the Buchmann's back to Gephard Buchmann born sometime between 1670 and 1680.

William Staddler (Stadler)

I'm looking for any further information on William Stadler who migrated 1859 from Switzerland to U.S. It seems he got settled in Brooklyn as a Cabinet Maker, got married to Mary and they had 7 children.
In the documents in Switzerland he is registered as 'missing' but I wonder what happened to him and/or his family.

She was born in New York (not sure which burrow) to German-born parents (again, not sure where in Germany). And she was actually born in 1910, not 1908. I have no idea what her maiden name was.

I have been looking for any leads on ancestors of my grandfather Albert J. Stadler a.k.a. AJ Stadler.... I know that him and my grandmother lived in Detroit, Mi when they were first married and I believe his family (somewhere down the line) came from Pennsylvania (and of course Germany way way down the line).... I know my grandpa was born in the early 1920's as well... If there is some kind of connection would you please let me know? Sorry I couldn't be of any more help than this....

I wish i could tell you there was a relationship. I am trying to find out for sure when my grgrgrandfather, Stephen A Stadler (1825 - 1885) came to the U.S.
In Pennsylvania. (I think he came around 1854 because there is a citizenship oath on Ancestry for Stephen Stadler in 1859. They lived in Phoenixville, Chester County.(close to Philadelphia)In the 1860 census, he is listed as Stetler and there are other Stetler/Stadler's in Chester County. They came to Iowa by 1870 and then to Kansas City, KS for the remainder of his life and most of the family lived around there also.
Sorry I can't be of more help with a connection to my family.
