I have a copied pamphlet made from "Histoire de SaintJacques d'Embrun". In it are listed Michel St.Amour dit Payet, Honore St.Amour dit Payet and wife Anna Charlebois (with pictures) decendants including Guillaume St.Amour(my great-grandfather) and his son Joseph Ernest Albert St.Amour, my grandfather. I'm on vacation and I might type
all the info to a word document. Please reply with new info or requests. Thank you

Hi Tim,

Are you by chance related to Denise Browne Dehn? I'm a friend of hers and am helping her trace her mother Aline's genealogy. Her grandparents were Guillaume/William St. Amour and Agnes Tessier. Guillaume was from Embrun, and Agnes was born in Orleans, not far from there. They were married in Ottawa. In the 1920's Agnes moved to Detroit, were some of her older children had already migrated. I don't have the list in front of me, but some of Aline's siblings are/were Albert, Romeo, Alice, Irene and Lillian. We've had good luck tracing the Tessier family back to France, but have just started on the St. Amour's. Would be happy to share info.

Hello Mary,
Denise Dehn is my cousin. My grandfather was Romeo St. Amour who married Susan Hantz from Duryea PA sometime around 1929-30. He was a lumberjack at this time. They then migrated to Detroit.

Hi Greg,

Did Denise tell you, I finally found Agnes Tessier in the 1881 Canadian census? We couldn't find it before because her last name was spelled Tacier! Her parents were Cyrille Tessier and Marie Marengere. We called Denise's mom and she remembered those names, once it jogged her memory. With that info I was able to trace the Tessier line back to the 1600's. I'll give a copy to Denise when I see her next and she can pass it on to you.

Now regarding the St. Amour line, I tried contacting Tim Moore, but his e-mail address doesn't work. Denise said he's a grandchild of Albert St. Amour. I think the Guillaume St. Amour he mentioned is Agnes' husband William. I did find him in the 1880 census with parents Henry and Anna. Tim mentioned Honore St. Amour, wife Anna Charlebois and son Guillaume are in that pamphlet "Histoire St. Jacques d'Embrun," and there may even be photos of them. I checked and that pamphlet is available on microfiche via any LDS family history library. I'll order a copy at my local branch here in Ann Arbor. I also sent away for a copy of a gravestone transcription for St. Jacques Catholic cemetery in Embrun. We'll see if these folks are buried there.

Hello: My Grandmother was a third cousing to Romeo St. Amour. Tessier, St. Amour, Raymond, and Joliceour all are related somewhere. If you look in the Raymond site you will See your family history. A lot of the Raymond family moved to Michigan including the St. Amour's they have a book written under the St. Amour Geneology.

Romeo married my Grandmother twice. Her name was Juliette. (lol) There was actually an article written in the 1930 about Romeo locking Juliette out on Balcony on honemoon. It was in the Montreal Gazette. I have a copy of Romeo's death certificate, he was also married to another lady and had two daughters by her. Between the two marriages to my grandfather. Their Children are in Hamilton Ontario Canada somewhere. They both married and had Children. I believe also one of the St. Amours coached the Hamilton Tigercats at one point back in the 60s or 70s. There is also history on that, as he was convicted for murdering his wife and children.

The Hudson's of Sarrasota Florida are fourthe cousins, thier mother is my second cousin, my grandmother's sister married thier grandfather who was a Spisak.

I could go on for ever, I have pictures of the St. Amour's, my Grandmother passed away six years ago of Alzheimer's. Looking for Romeo. She resided in Bradenton Florida at the time. She had married five times and was predeseased by all but her last husband who she married at 76. Quite the characters the St. Amours and Raymonds. They were all very close together, and spent a lot of time together.

Look up under Raymond, Joliceour, Tessier, Sauve. Theese are all related back as far as original settlement.

Hello Ruth-Anne,
I'd like to know if your Romeo St Amour is the same as mine. He was bn November 03, 1907 and died January 20, 2000 in Sterling Hts, Mich.
My Romeo married Susie Hantz and had 2 daughters: Janet and Donalda (my mother). He married Juliette but I didn't know that they were married twice.
Where can I find this St Amour genealogy?

Hello Greg: I believe those are the names, I would have to speak to my Aunt Ginny in Florida first to confirm. Yes, thew were married twice. They were always fighting, then they divorced, he married your Grandmother, I don't know what happened, but they married again, and divorced around 1940. My grandmother talked often about your mother and sister and how smart they were. She actually had brain surgery to the extent of her injuries from one of Romeo's beatings.

I beleive he was angry because she had taken his Model T when she left. The family told me a story, and so did she, about how they got back together, after the operation. Grandma had it planned, and once he got drunk, and passed out, she tied him to the bed post beat him with a lamp, and took everything. My grandpa John, who was the only grandfather I knew told me some of the story. He said he was there in the hospital when Grandma had the surgery, and said Romeo, sent roses to the hospital.

Aunt Ginny remembers Romeo, but I didn't realize he was still alive up until 2000, I would have liked to have spoken to him and your Mother about Grandma Juliette. She was also married to a Joe Armonde (not sure of spelling) who was a detective for the Montreal Police force and security for the Alloettes.

I know Romeo knew who my mother's real father was, and my mother was never told, it is something we grandchildren wanted to know. My email is whitejolice@aol.com if you care to email me any information you have. I believe I have some pictures here of your grandfather and family. Your mother must be younger than mine. Mine is 76. My mother didn't know Grandma Judy was her mother until Juliette's mother Laura died in 1939.

My mother was raised by her grandparents and has their name on her birth certificate. I keep meaning to ask my cousin's Roger and Rene Raymond in Windsor if either of them has the Montreal Gazette article. Uncle Hector had it ramed.

I also believe one of the Raymond brother's, was married to your Grandfather's sister, but I could be wrong about that.

E-mail me and in the mean time I will check with Aunt Ginny.

Greg: We lost contact. Since 2005 I have had much loss, including my own health, I have moved, and I am doing much better. I hope you read this message and contact me again, I would like to get copies of the articles you have. I saw one in Readers Digest about four years ago. I did not even understand when I was writing back in forth that Romeo had already died. Grandma was born in 1912, I could be off by a year, and her birthday was in January. I remember that was the last question you asked. I have her death and birth certificates. Grandma was related to the Jolicoeurs, Raymonds, and St. Amours. I hope this helps.

My Mother Therese (Marie Jaqueline Therese) passed away seven years ago now, all my parents, step parents, and one nephew withing two years of each other. Now I am a little more lucid and grounded. I have reels of old film I would like to put on DVD, and my Grandmother was an avid picture taker all her life. I have photos of Romeo. My email addres now is joliceour1957@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you. Ruth-Anne
