Hello Greg: I believe those are the names, I would have to speak to my Aunt Ginny in Florida first to confirm. Yes, thew were married twice. They were always fighting, then they divorced, he married your Grandmother, I don't know what happened, but they married again, and divorced around 1940. My grandmother talked often about your mother and sister and how smart they were. She actually had brain surgery to the extent of her injuries from one of Romeo's beatings.
I beleive he was angry because she had taken his Model T when she left. The family told me a story, and so did she, about how they got back together, after the operation. Grandma had it planned, and once he got drunk, and passed out, she tied him to the bed post beat him with a lamp, and took everything. My grandpa John, who was the only grandfather I knew told me some of the story. He said he was there in the hospital when Grandma had the surgery, and said Romeo, sent roses to the hospital.
Aunt Ginny remembers Romeo, but I didn't realize he was still alive up until 2000, I would have liked to have spoken to him and your Mother about Grandma Juliette. She was also married to a Joe Armonde (not sure of spelling) who was a detective for the Montreal Police force and security for the Alloettes.
I know Romeo knew who my mother's real father was, and my mother was never told, it is something we grandchildren wanted to know. My email is
whitejolice@aol.com if you care to email me any information you have. I believe I have some pictures here of your grandfather and family. Your mother must be younger than mine. Mine is 76. My mother didn't know Grandma Judy was her mother until Juliette's mother Laura died in 1939.
My mother was raised by her grandparents and has their name on her birth certificate. I keep meaning to ask my cousin's Roger and Rene Raymond in Windsor if either of them has the Montreal Gazette article. Uncle Hector had it ramed.
I also believe one of the Raymond brother's, was married to your Grandfather's sister, but I could be wrong about that.
E-mail me and in the mean time I will check with Aunt Ginny.
