In the Baca ship registry: Vaclav Sramek, 35, Catherine Sramek, 38, and Anna, 8. They came over in August, 1881.

Does anyone know where this family settled, and did they have any more children after they came here?

My Hruska family came to the US around 1870 and settled in Nebraska. Frank Bartholomew Hruska married Mary Ann Sramek on Aug. 18, 1923 and he died in Lewistown, Montana on April 20, 1991. I have no other info on the Sramek family.

My ex-mother-in-law, Birdie V. Sramek, (who
is still a dear friend) lives in Rifle, Colo.
She is in her 90's now, but is still very
sharp. Her youngest son Conrad Sramek also
lives in Rifle. They may be able to help you.
I do remember a Mary Ann in the family.

I would love to find any relatives that might know more about Mary Ann Sramek. How would I contact them?

with Connie (Conrad) Sramek. His mother
(Birdie) is in a nursing home and he would be
glad to find out any info she has. She has
another son, Frank Deloit Sramek (my first
husband), in Texas.

The Mary Ann Sramek that Birdie and Jayne would know about was born in 1901, married Alois Lorens, died in 1980, and is buried in Nebraska. This is not the same Mary Ann that Connie is looking for.

Connie, I'm very curious if you have any information about the brothers and sisters of the first Hruska in your family to come to Nebraska. My great great grandfather Sramek married a Hruska in 1865. You can reach me at mary@levesque.com if you wish.

Examples of helpful information would be the county in Nebraska where they first settled, where they might have come from in Bohemia or Moravia, what the children's names were, etc.

Mystery somewhat solved! These Srameks ended up in Holt County, Nebraska. This Vaclav appears to be a first cousin of our great grandfather Vaclav. I have recent research on the birth record of this Vaclav, if anyone is interested.
