YOUNGSTOWN – Thomas J. Squeglia Sr., 92, passed away Dec. 6, 2012, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.
Tom was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Petrillo) Squeglia.
Tom owned and operated a service station on the north side for many years.
Tom was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a graduate of Youngstown State University and a member of St. Edward Parish.
Tom married Edith Marcovecchio on Nov. 20, 1943. She passed away on Aug. 14, 2009.
Tom is survived by his daughter-in-law, Nancy Squeglia; his grandchildren, Kristen (Rhory) Squeglia Benjamin of Atlanta, Courtney Squeglia of Charlotte, N.C. and Brian Squeglia of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; a great-granddaughter; Harper Benjamin of Atlanta; two nieces, Andrea (Greg) Padach, and Tami (Chris) Vitello, both of Youngstown; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith; his son, Thomas J. Squeglia Jr.; two brothers, Nick and Carmen Squeglia; a sister, Theresa Scarnecchia; and a niece, Mary Liz Dunlea.
There will be a memorial Mass on Dec. 13, 2012, Thursday, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Edward Church in Youngstown.
