Hi-
I've just come across your posting while looking up my grandfather's death dates online. My family came from the Nairn area of Scotland. My mother and father have done extensive research on the family connections and I'd love to hear from you regarding your connections. Hope to hear from you.

Hello
My Grandmother, Elspeth Squair was one of 17 Squair offspring who were raised in Manitoba Canada. My dad FW Eley-Round had 52 first cousins in the Canadian Squair line.
I am looking for Australian Squairs who may have intermarried with Sinclairs because my Aussie husband is from one of these long ago off shoots of the Squair tree. We have no children to branch back.

My mother was a Squair. My grandfather, James Alexander Squair immigrated to Winnipeg MB Canada 100 years ago at the age of 5 with his family from a farm around Nairn, Scotland. I have found his birth record on-line from the Parish of Nairn. My great-grandfather, also James Squair was a farm-overseer prior to moving to Canada. At the time of the move, I think they already had 10 children.

I actually haven't done any research, but given that my family came from Nairn, and my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather were both named James, and my Grandfather's brother's name was Francis...I'd bet that it's the same family. My Mom's cousin has done extensive research and has been back to Nairn several times...she would know for sure!

I don't know if you will ever read this, but it is a one of the favorite Squair stories...of when Grandpa's sister married a Round, and what fun they had introducing themselves to people! Mr. Squair and Mr. Round, and people didn't believe them.
My Grandpa, James, was the oldest boy, and took over the family homestead in Reaburn, MB.
