Classification: Query
Your name has come up as a connection with Squair. Have no idea where you live? but we live in France.
I am typing this on behalf of my husband whose mother was Emily MacGregor Squair.
We have just had a contact from Canada write to us via Ancestry regarding her Squair connectionand your name came up too. Gather you are planning to visit Nairn.
We are members of both Ancestry and Genes Re-United where we are building our family tree.
Mu husband says that Alexander Square (Squair) born c1686 was believed to have farmed at: Easterton of Inshoch, Auldearn. He was married to an Elizabeth Calder and they had nine children. My husband's connection is their son, James, who was born on 24th March, 1720. He was baptised three days later. Present at the baptism were James Calder, Isobele Calder, James Ross and James Simpson.
James went on to marry another Elizabeth Calder and had six children.
Auldearn is three or four miles east of Elgin.
Perhaps of some use also! IS if you type in on Google simply 'Auldearn, Morayshire, or Nairn Morayshire or just Elgin, Morayshire' (just names of villages that you think might have information) I think you may well find a lot of information which may be of use.
We are also a member of Genes Re-United and this is where my husband is building our family tree. If you too are a member he is happy for you to have a look at it.
Hope this of some use.
With kind regards,
Eelan (Hodgson - wife of William)
