Stratts from England via Toronto

David A. Doheny  (View posts) Posted: 7 Nov 2000 12:23PM GMT
My Spratt ancestors were from Maidstone, Kent, England, and were Army officers. My great grandfather Robert Spratt emigrated to Upper Canada in 1836 and lived in Toronto for over 40 years, from 1850 to the 1890s. He had eleven children who reached adulthood, but only two males - William Alfred of Hamilton (d. 1951) who had no children, and Robert Stuart who emigrated to Amsterdam, N.Y. circa 1908, and was living there in the 1920s, maybe later. He had three children, Robert S., Jr., b. 1903; Maude, b. 1905 and Douglas Alfred, b. 1906. I do not know what became of these three, but believe one or more may have settled in Arizona.

If this strikes any bells, I would be pleased to hear from you. Incidentally, my grandmother Agnes Spratt Armour lived in Vancouver from 1910 to 1930 and is buried at Oceanview Cwnetery in Burnaby.
