Phillip- My sons are related to the Spicers of the Parrsboro Shore NS by way of Joseph Spicer ,son of Robert Spicer born 1753 and Priscilla Clasby Crumpler born 1755.They received a land grant near Advocate in Cumberland County in 1784-85.under the signature of Governor Parr.
Both Robert and Priscilla were born in Dorset. Robert's father was a farmer and Priscilla's were tradersmen. They were married in 1775 and came to the colonies. Unable to find the Militia that Robert fought with in 1776-17778 but he was described as LIEUT in the land grant documents,Robert died in 1810 and Priscilla in 1820. Their children were Robert, Priscilla, John , James, Joseph and Jane called Jennie. In the 1800sand 1900s Spicer was one of the most frequent name found on the Parrsboro Shore. Joseph married and AYER, Priscilla a HAZEL and Robert a Loomer.I am pulling this from memory hopefully I am correct.I am not sure that he was the first European in Cumberland County but I could be misinformed. I live in Sidney BC while my son #1 is in Parksville and #2 is in Vancouver. Hope to hear your connection with the SPICERS. Lyda
