CIRCLEVILLE: Ruth S. Harmount, 96, of Circleville, Ohio formerly of Chillicothe, Ohio died 4:08 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 in Brown Memorial Home, Circleville, Ohio following an extended illness.
She was born December 21, 1917, in Ross County, Ohio to the late Earl and Audra Tootle Speakman.
On January 1, 1939, she married Ralph M. Harmount who died March 25, 1995.
Ruth was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was also a member of the church's Deborah Circle.
In 1951, she joined the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 419.
Over the years, she was very active in O.E.S. having served as the chapter's Worthy Matron and in addition participated in the chapter's Sewing Club Circle and the Helen Star Point Circle.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Beora Harmount; grandchildren, Ronald Harmount Jr., Beatrice Harmount, Birdena (Roger) Navejar and Josie Harmount; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Maribel Mace, of Circleville; a sister-in-law, Margery Speakman of Washington Court House, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Maynard Speakman and a brother-in-law, Franklin Mace.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Scott Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Browns Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ware's where an O.E.S Service will be held at 7 p.m.
