Harvey Speakes of Colt dies June 26
Harvey Speakes of Route 1, Colt, died at the Cross County Hospital Saturday Evening. He had been a patient at the hospital about two weeks.
Mr. Speakes was born in Black Oak, Arkansas., July 13, 1897, and was 73 years of age. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War one.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Winnie Hewlett Speakes of route 1, Colt; Two daughters, Mrs. J. D. Duckworth fo Greenway, Ark., and Mrs. Norman Goldsmith of Newark. CA., two stepsons, E. R. Wood of Tilton and Jesse Wood of Winterhaven, Fla., one stepdaughter, Mrs. Stanley Sienko, of Dumont, N.J.; two half-Brothers, Harold Speakes of Memphis and Carmen Speakes of California; Three half-sisters; Mrs. George Keweza and Mrs. Raymond Ramsey, both of Chicago, and Mrs. J. Ledbetter of California; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Kernodle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Berlon Davis officiating. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery. (he died in 1970)
