I would appreciate any information you can provide about my grandfather.
All I know about him is that he came to America sometime after the Italian-Lybian War and before the outbreak of World War I. He was a private in the Italian Army. He also changed the spelling of his surename when he came over to America. Because it was difficult getting good jobs in industry at the time if they new you were Italian or of Italian decent. So basically, he was discriminated because he was Italian. He eventually got a job as an engineer in the power plant at General Electric Company in Erie, Pennsylvania. He passed away in 1945 at work.
The original spelling of his surename was SPADACCINI.
He was from the town in northern Italy called "La Spezia". He was born sometime in the 1890's or late 1880's.
Any leads or information is greatly appreciated.
